Comments Thread For: Pacquiao's Long-Term Future Best Served By Avoiding Crawford

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - I appreciate Manny Pacquiao. The things he's accomplished since reaching the championship level more than two decades ago measure up to anyone over the same time frame, and he'll be a deserving International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee at the very instant he becomes eligible. But in spite of the hype somehow still resonating from...

    Long term future?

Has anyone told the headline maker that Manny is knocking on 42s door?

Perhaps he's talking about any future at all because Crawfish could, if he wanted to, knock Manny into the next century. A fight between the two is simply not realistic, if his fans actually cared about him they would not be agitating for this fight.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't believe Crawford is on Mayweather's level yet, and Manny gave May a tough fight. I don't think Crawford could walk Manny down the way Thurman tried to do or could keep him at bay with the jab like Mayweather. Crawford also starts slow. I thought Manny looked good against Thurman, and I believe he can also do very well against Crawford. Manny has not been reckless since the Marquez licking, and Crawford has had some problems with speed early...see Gamboa and Khan, but Manny's experience will make it hard for him. Crawford got stunned by Mean machine, Gamboa and Manny's quick left, which found a home on Mayweather hard twice may be too much for Crawford's chin.

I think Pac is amazing and even an old Pac can't be underestimated, but I believe this fight would be something like Donair vs Inoue with Pac giving great account of himself but still losing maybe koed.

I think Crawford will beat Manny but the thing is Crawford can be hit and hurt and Manny can punch, by the same token TC could leave Manny face first on the floor, but honestly TC hasnt proved himself and that leaves a hole in TC that Manny could possibly fill, I say go for it.

You've been saying this for years, when was the last time Pacquaio was really "whipped".
