u are seeing it upside down, it was calzaghe who waited for a shyt titlist like lacy to come along, so that he would finally raise his game to title level at age of 34.
he waited in order to keep out of the way of actually challenging titlists.
lacys middling, he got beat up by a shot roy jones. One of the least valid titlists in SMW history.
Ottke would've leave Germany and got GIFTS against Brewer, Mitchell, Starie and Reid

Joe smoked them all
shouldnt have been facing them in the first place with the exception of reid.
you do get that comparing his work with the work of the a dodger like sven just makes joe look bad?
but you are not far wrong, sven was the kind to compare to joe for sure, hes that level.

no worries, respect to joe, he makes us proud ot be brit, good to see more than one made their mark in SMW.
this is really about comparing joe with sven his real rival, mays 3 leagues above. I'll start a thread on it as this one is making joe look like a joke, I dont appreciate people making our brits look like clowns.

Calzaghe had a weak heart until he discovered confidence after beating Jeff Lacy. He was so used to fighting Cardiff's taxi drivers in sports centres for so long that when the big opportunity came up to fight Lacy, Calzaghe wanted to pull out because the occasion almost got to him. His dad, Enzo, slapped him and told him a chance like this would never come around again so he'd better take it.
