        Floyd had a 32 : 3 mil against Maidana.

That’s about 10% to the 2 Division Champion whom did decent gates and ratings for HBO and Showtime’s Hispanic following.

Smith wants DOUBLE of that because some posters feel the WBSS tournament set the standard for Smith paygrade whereas the winning pot was not based on a one fight promotion or split.

This is insane. During a pandemic Smith is being offered more Than fair compensation. The A side hasn’t even had the luxury to promote the fight which is basically off his name.

It’s ridiculous. Maidana got even an increased pay for the rematch.

Smith Team have no confidence and the Canelo haters expose their logic. If Canelo were to be “gifted” this fight, because you can’t “beat” Floyd in Vegas, how is it any different to try and cause a controversial fight? Are Team Smith afraid of another Ryder situation and absolutely no rematch? Lol

Something to consider. The economics of Top rank is completely different than the economics of DAZN and Canelo. The Top Rank fighters split part of the net revenue garnered from the fights. DAZN on the other hand, guarantees Canelo and minimum of $365 million for 11 fights. That works out to approximately $33 million per fight. This does not include any money he receives from proceeds from the live gate and endorsements. In that sense Canelo already receives a pay cut if there is no live gate and no endorsements.

DAZN argues that Canelo should ignore that contract and accept a lower amount because of the pandemic. DAZN, in effect is saying they cannot afford to honor the contract until the pandemic is over. At the same time DAZN is sinking around $2 billion in a new deal with Sky and the German Soccer League to stream their games. So it appears that they do have money to honor their contract.

You can argue that DAZN signed a bad contract and over pay Canelo and GGG, but the fact is they have a contract that needs to be honored. In my view, DAZN is a clown car the has botched this from day one.

It's funny how the Canelo haters defend Callum Smith but then attack Teofimo for doing the same thing Smith is doing.

I don't know when folks are going to realize that the first factor in determining what's to be paid is what the fight is worth, not whether it's a career payday or a lot of money.

It shouldn't be difficult to understand. Say you have two fighters, one fighter (A) averages 5 million a fight and the other (B) 1 million a fight.

If a fight between them is projected to net 20 million dollars, it's not OK for fighter A's promoter to offer fighter B only 5 million dollars then run to the press yelling how unreasonable B is being. It's not OK to claim B should take it because it's five times his biggest payday.

There's an extra 14 million there that never happens WITHOUT BOTH MEN.

The appropriate split is 8 million to B and 12 million to A.

But some of you are in here saying that 5 million to B and 15 million to A is fair, which is hot garbage. The only way that 75/25 split is fair is if A can demonstrate he draws 3 times as much of a crowd or viewers than B. If that's the case, then 75/25 is fair.

It has little or nothing to do with career paydays.

In the case of the OP, Canelo has a track record. Canelo has proof he is a ppv draw and has translated that popularity in DAZN subscriptions. But, if the fight is in Britain or they expect sizable revenue from British sources, Smith deserves to get compensated for that. As for Lopez vs Loma, whether you look at what percentages past champion opponents of Loma got or base it on peak viewership numbers, there's no metric that says Lopez shouldn't get at least a 40% split- and right now he is being offered around 25%.

Because Canelo needs an opponent, so he has to pay them something.

                    He can’t fight himself.

The problem here is that Canelo has earned himself a boss paycheck per fight.

And his opponents want to act like that factors into their purse somehow too.
