IMHO I don't think a particular guy should own a date, No one put a show around those dates because Mayweather fought on those dates and no smart business would try to compete against that.
After Mayweather retired, Alvarez took those dates because he was the biggest name alongside Pacquiao and Cotto. but neither of those guys had a established reputation of fighting on those dates so Alvarez jumped on the opportunity.
After Alvarez defeated Chavez Jr he announced his fight with GGG for Sep 16, Mayweather had a bigger fight in with McGregor and still put his fight 3 weeks earllier (August 26th) so his numbers did not compete with Alvarez numbers.
I mean if history has taught us something is that the one who announces a big fight first majority of the time keeps his date, Tyson got smart and put his exhibition around the date because Alvarez had nothing concrete.
I don't have a problem with Tyson and Jones having their exhibition at that date, it's only GBP and DAZN to blame themselves, had they done their business well they would've kept the date for Alvarez.
If you ask me honestly I'm gonna stream the tyson fight, I'm not paying 50 bucks for an exhibition and I would rather watched a top boxing fight in that date, Charlo vs Derevyanchenko card would've been sick on that date because those dates are associated with top fights but is is what it is.
Right now I'm just hyped for that Charlo's card and I will only pay for that PPV, I'm streaming Tank vs Leo because I don't think that fight is worth PPV.
