Gary Russell Jr Calls Out Terence Crawford

Wait what? He wants to fight Crawford at 147? Dude has been fighting at 126. I don't know what's been going on with him, but he has called out Haney at 135 and now Crawford at 147. I mean he should be trying to get a unification bout with Warrington.

Anyways, not sure why him breaking Crawford's jaw or when they were kids is relevant? This story has already been out on how GRJ either beat up Crawford or got him with a good shot for damn near six or seven years. GRJ may have had a chance vs Crawford when they were younger but he has death wish if he thinks he even lasts a few rounds at 147.

Russell Jr is soooo desperate for a payday. He just wants to cash out.

He’s supremely talented but evidently lacks the motivation, his consistent inactivity shows that.

Gary Russell has called out multiple fighters through the years yet still fights in the same weight class that he fought at years ago when I watched him in person out here in Carson, California get outclassed and his title taken by a fighter with only three professional bouts. That fighter has since went on to move up twice already. Russell is the very definition of a Napoleon Complex.

He's not getting any fights around his weight class for some reason and I can't figure out why. Has a lot of in-house options yet the fights never happen. Why? I have never figured it out. I know he only wants to fight once a year which is his right, but isn't it odd he has never gotten a big in house fight when he has had LSC, Davis, Frampton, Mares etc all around his weight class?

I’m sure I read he demands huge purses or some sh** like that.

I genuinely can’t believe GRJ-LSC hasn’t happened. It’s a travesty too IMO, great stylistic matchup, both in the same stable, solid backstory.

Personally, I think both of them got way too comfortable earning around a million USD for fighting the likes of Hyland, Martinez, Rivera, Flores etc.

I just don't get it. He's a different cat for sure but like he's the one guy that can't get the big fight? He's definitely a smart guy and negotiates well. Dude gets a percentage of the gate to go along with his guarantee. The funny thing is he only fights once a year but ends up taking on some high risk fights like Jo Jo Diaz and King Tug. Those are not easy fights for anyone yet he has to take them to keep his belt.

Mares has no fight lined up so why not at least try to get that one next? I'm sure the Warrington fight could be possible and he was talking to Hearn last year. Maybe he can even go to TR and fight Stevenson at 130?

Maybe he has a death wish. He should at least beat one top 10 welterweight or why the hell should Crawford fight him and look like a cherry picking bully. Instead of this BS he should try fighting a top featherweight more than once a year. This reminds me of Lara calling out GGG for years at 160 yet never beating a middleweight in his life. Title shots should be earned by beating good fighters in THAT WEIGHT CLASS. What has Russell ever done to deserve a fight with any welterweight champ. He has never even defeated a jr lightweight.
