  • Comments Thread For: Arum: Lomachenko-Lopez Could Air On ESPN, Not Necessarily Pay-Per-View

Something positive potentially could happen for cost-conscious boxing fans in this constantly changing, COVID-19 world. Promoter Bob Arum has informed BoxingScene.com that it's still possible that the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Teofimo Lopez fight could air live on ESPN. Arum previously believed that their expensive lightweight title unification bout was bound for ESPN Pay-Per-View on October 3, but the 88-year-old promoter is awaiting word from ESPN executives regarding how they'll televise one of the most highly anticipated fights on the remainder of the 2020 boxing calendar.

The views are struggling as it is, could be dangerous to stick it on PPV and have even smaller numbers watch it.. it's not a PPV fight so stick it on normal...

This obsession with trying to convince people certain fights are PPV to start with is laughable anyway...

They should just stick it on regular ESPN they are killing me with the ESPN+ thing. I was a subscriber but I canceled it because it's terrible really. I'd like to see the fight but I'm not subscribing just to see it.

The only way this fight is broadcast on regular ESPN or its online ******ing service ESPN+ is if both Lomachenko and Lopez agree to take pay cuts. However, if they were promised guarantees then they will have no choice but to put it on Pay Per view.

Loma isn’t a ppv fighter despite the fan-media great hype campaign.

I think there's going to be a lot of people with the same mindset pal..

In UK, PPV was originally for the big fights, Hearns increased involvement from taking over the reigns and trying to follow the American model of trying to sell anything and everything is becoming a joke.. we've seen how he's trying to sell the Whyte/Povetkin as the next great thing...

Like anything we have a choice wether to pay or not but there's some fights I'd like to see but not enough to pay to watch them...

Starting to doubt this fight happens to be honest. Before the covid 19 canceled fights this fight hadn't been finalized. This fight has been in the works for over a year and in December Teo sealed the deal. Getting Juan Ma vs Gamboa vibes from this fight.

Arum should put it on ESPN just to make up for the fights he ran during his "Boxing is Back" series. That chased more fight fans and potential sports fans away then it did to help. As far as ESPN Plus that don't really exist anymore except if you say " there is an app called ESPN Plus with zero content. At a cost of five dollars a month". Can you imagine the garbage talk, the syrupy hype to have to Mute out during that fight on ESPN ? But they made a special feature on remotes for just that reason. Nothing wrong with the fighters or the match up its the delivery that will cause some fans to holler just put the fight on....................

Its ridiculous to make us pay to watch EVERY fight. Don King was a crook but he loaded cards and had huge fights.
