Ryan Garcia should listen to his fellow mexican-american brother and realize that if you signed a contract that states a specific payday per fight and your promoter meets those dollars cent for cent then be a professional and appreciate that your people gave you the money they guaranteed you amidst all of this God awful ****ty mess of a pandemic. Benavidez seems to be grateful that his contract has been fulfilled. Class act.. true professional and world champion might I add

When did Bob Arum take a paycut?

Will be interesting to see how the pandemic affects cards and matchups in the long run. Understandably, we have yet to see any fights with two highly ranked, high profile fighters. Closest we had to that was Baranchyk and Zepeda and that got scrubbed due to injury (and while that would have been a helluva fight they aren't exactly household names).

We've had competitive fights with implications (Greer vs Plania) and big names (Shakur and Joe Joyce) but not the two at the same time and majority of the fights have been at the lower tiers. I'm thankful for all boxing but at some point the market will force changes unless medicine or policy changes.

Benavidez acknowledging the situation and understanding the importance of staying active shows alot of maturity. Good sense too. There should be a payback stuctured into the contract. Exp: when time of contract is up all money's not paid for these circumstances will be reimbursed. It could go on down the line with networks and comentators ect..

Just because Benevidez says he'll take a paycut doesn't mean his handlers agree to one vs Canelo of all ppl.

Benevidez should be a cinco de mayo fight with a packed house of tix costing over 2k each.(& pBC knows it which is why they sure as sht wouldn't let him fight Canelo now)
So you would like the fight to marinade then.

ESPN makes all of their profits by selling advertisements, sponsors and subscribers correct? Well how could these Sports networks make money if they can't sell any advertisements or lose sponsors and subscriptions because of the lack of original live sporting events?

They are taking Ls because of the lack of revenue. If they are losing money due to this pandemic then so are their employees like Bob Arum; Who is charge of all of the boxing content on ESPN.

Remember that for the exception of the 30 for 30 documentaries ESPN is a total sports network. So their situation is extremely dire as opposed to other television networks, premium cable television and live streaming applications like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon prime which specializes in programming other than sports.

Arum has a contract with ESPN that pays him a set amount.

As far as I know that set amount has not gone done because of COVID-19.

There have been news articles staring that Canelo is willing to take a paycut, to help out due to the pandemic.

Can you point me to any news articles that state Bob Arum has taken a paycut?

I can't. It's presumed. However, Bob is a known to be shark in business so it wouldn't surprise that he is probably not taking a pay cut after all, so it's anyone's guess. However, he is telling all of his fighters that they are going to have to make some sacrifices so why shouldn't he lead by example?
