I remember when Oscar De La Hoya wiped the ring up with him and chased him back to the glass ****. He was pretty good at avoiding fights in the ring though.Comment

He knocked out a fighter going backwards. Toney became a slob as his career went and became more stationary.Comment

Hey now, don't forget the double OG Aretha!!

Stationary or did like to keep the fight in the middle of the ring. He had this subtle half of step back with a hook right away or a right hand. It is in an angle so most miss it. You can say that he was creating punching space but it was also part of his defensive move.Comment

Yes stationary. His feet were predominantly stationary and slow.Stationary or did like to keep the fight in the middle of the ring. Toney fought best when someone was in front of him so he could slip and use his defense and counter. Where the fight was depended on his opponent more more so than him.
He rarely moved backwards because his feet are slow, he obviously threw good counter punches, usually from a stationary position. He’s not even in the discussion for being near the top for fighters who landed great punches moving backwards.Comment
