Another Canelo fight that makes too much sense: Chavez Jr. 2 at 175

I know some of you guys think I’m nuts but here’s the dilemma for DAZN:

Canelo doesn’t have an attractive opponent until GGG 3 and that fight isn’t happening next.

We all might be excited about Alavrez-Callum Smith but DAZN is thinking about subs.

    That fight doesn’t really matter.

And it isn’t exciting for the holiday.

It’ll also be hard to find an opponent for Canelo that does matter.

There’s no audience so the opponent has to take less. No one is taking less to fight Canelo. No one wants to be the quarantine opponent.

And even if they find someone that will take less (a la Callum Smith), DAZN is likely time yawn at said opponent.

    Enter Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

You might think its dumb, I think it’s dumb, but is it really?

Chavez has no options his career is toast and a $2 million payday is a no brainer for him.

He’s already in house as well.

And while he’s an embarrassment, he’s also a pop culture icon. He should have never gotten the Jacobs or Canelo fights. Yet people keep coming back.

    It’ll sell.

DAZN will have a rematch of a fight that sold 1 million PPVs.

That number is higher than some of the most successful PPVs rival promoters have done recently. It’s a number that rivals the Canelo-GGG PPV numbers DAZN is obsessing over.

Let’s pretend Canelo-Chavez 2 was on PPV and 70% of the people who bought it the first time say no thanks (not happening.)

That still rivals all the pbc and espn numbers.

And I think DAZN would have welcomed any of those PPV cards on their app.

So I think this makes the most sense. Chavez the most sensible coronavirus opponent that’ll sell.

It can also be done at 175 and Chavez can play the weight drained angle.

I love it, I would watch. But I thought the david light idea was brilliant too and it apparently wasn’t lol.

Please tell me Im dumb hahah.

It's a damn shame that fighters no longer believe in themselves anymore. If this was back in the 1980s then Canelo wouldn't have any shortage of fighters lining up to fight him in order in order to take his title away from him.

Unfortunately times have changed; Legacy, greatness, resume and prestige means absolutely nothing to these fighters nowadays. All they are interested in is cashing and pricing themselves out for the almighty dollar.

Makes perfect sense if you want to see Chavez get bodied.

There isn't a shortage of guys wanting to fight Canelo. Canelo just doesn't want to fight any of them. It's why we're hearing names like Dirrell and Lemieux

You left out the biggest reason that this fight might happen.

Eddie/DAZN is still on the hook for two more JCCjr fights.

So answer this question for me please. What have those other opponents achieved and proven that Canelo hasn't? If Alvarez is being pressured and forced to take a pay cut by DAZN then why shouldn't the others be forced to take one too?

... Let me understand: do you really want Canelo vs Chavez Jr at 175?...

I'm sorry but I'd rather jump into a jet engine groin-first than watch a repeat of that first dreadful fight. Even a fight against Quigley would probably look like Hagler-Hearns by comparison.
