Pac is a genuine great, but a lot of his career is smoke-n-mirrors

two issues...

1) matchmaking (which includes the weight manipulation)
* lower-level opponents... all those mid-level Top Rank JWW's
* 144... dragging the little guys up, and pulling the big guys down
* many of Pac's top wins were literally at the lowest point in their career

Pac would not have fought them otherwise, like we saw with Mosley

2) steroids
* all been said before, no need to go into details

I think that Pac is a genuine great for his performances below 135, and with Mayweather... which are really the only times we know that he was clean

I don't believe he was using before the Diaz fight, and I honestly thought that Mayweather would blow him out

many will burn Pac's entire career because of the steroid thing, but I still evaluate the fights that we know were real... all of the... "leap 3 divisions in 9 months, increasing speed and power, while DOUBLING his punch output"... fights, are obviously not eligible for consideration

verdict: a genuine great, but nowhere near as high as most seem to think... based on the facts above

I tend to judge a person, in general, on how they behave in the face of adversity -

even Marquez would have beaten 145lb Hoya, 145lb Cotto, and 140lb Hatton... those guys were at the lowest point in their career

their careers had never been at a lower point before/after Pac fought them

like I said earlier, Pacquiao is great for what he achieved below 135, and for performing so well against Mayweather... but he is nowhere near as great as most fans think due to the phenomenal matchmaking by Bruce Trampler and Brad Goodman, and the supplements from Ariza
