Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson Opens As Betting Favorite Over Roy Jones In Exhibition

Early betting odds suggest that Roy Jones Jr. stood a better chance of beating Mike Tyson in a real fight 17 years ago than in a fake fight during present day. With news of an exhibition match taking place between the legendary former champs, oddsmakers like the 54-year old Tyson to come out on top. The former undisputed heavyweight champion has opened at an eye-catching -350 betting favorite (bet $350 to win back an additional $100) by BetOnline.ag for their faux meeting, which is due to take place September 12 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

It is good to see Tyson back in such terrific shape. It looks like he is taking care of his health and from what he is saying, he is mentally in a good place too.

Roy has little chance in this one, it’s a mismatch but we won’t know how rusty Mike is as his style needs more precision punching, it may get out of round 2 ?

How can there be "odds", or anyone win money on a fight with no judges/decision?
Will there need to be a ko for a "winner", or is the ref giving a decision?

Why in the world would they put this on ppv? Two fighters over 50 years old, headgear, no judges, no scoring. C'mon boxing can do better than this 🤦*♂️

No surprise, and I threw the bank at Tyson personally.

So it's gonna have judges & an official decision?

Honestly I love RJJ at those odds & the feeling that Mike will play nice in this exhibition.

Or basically I don't think Mike is gonna try to have RJJ do a Berbick impression & honestly that's even assuming Mike at 54 could do that. As many have stated it's one thing to look good hitting bags or mitts but a fight is a whole other thing. RJJ is 3yrs younger + was boxing 2 years ago. Mike's older & more rusty having been out of the ring for 15yrs.

Lol just read the full story. Yea this makes no sense. How is a betting site throwing up a line for an event that won't have a decision?!?!?

I guess if someone gets knocked out I guess that's a unofficial decision, but is that what they are doing or is it just some PR for the fight like I'm guessing it is?
