I say that because Mike was a broken and defeated shell of his former self after that Lewis demolition and Roy was sitting atop of the boxing world at the time.
It was actually tyson that didnt want to fight at that time. Roy talked about it

Yeah, I know. However, it would have been one Hell of fight though. It would have done at least 3 million Pay per view buys at the time. I am still excited for this match up too; Even though both men are in their 50s and past their primes.

In 2003 I believe Roy coulda won that fight. He still had quick quick reflexes and would have been able to box that version of Tyson to a decision victory. Since then bro Roy has been kod so many times and has lost them reflexes that made him great and special plus hes punch drunk and super chiny now.(hes been punch drunk and whiny since like 08) Now he goes to the ropes and covers up and he still gets hit. He tried that like 3 years ago in Europe and got kod face first. The only thing I would say is in Roy's favor is probably hand speed since hes naturally smaller and stamina since he dont smoke and hes been active throughout the years plus all we see from tyson are 10 second clips.Tyson shoulda picked on someone closer to his size like holyfield or Briggs. I feel like this is kind of a cherry pick in a sense. Hoping no one gets hurt and a good performance from both.

I agree. Back in 2003 Roy Jones was the early 2 to 1 favorite to defeat Mike Tyson. He would have caught him at a good time to because Mike was a broken fighter by then.

He just took a Hellacioius asswhooping from Lennox Lewis and part of him had shut down. He just didn't want it anymore.

Now fast forward to today. Roy is completely shot and is done. I think Mike is doing this fight as a favor to Roy Jones in order to throw him a lifeline.

What made Roy so special almost 20 years ago was his athleticism; The ability to dart in and get out without getting tagged. However, now all of that is gone. He never possessed the same kind fundamentals of the sport like Bernard Hopkins did to fall back on as he aged.

He has basically kept the very same style he had in his youth and have paid a very heavy cost because of it.
