Comments Thread For: Braekhus-McCaskill First Female Bout To Headline DAZN-USA Show

Cecilia Braekhus and Jessica McCaskill will help break new ground for DAZN-USA, as their bout will now serve as the main event on August 15, live from downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their forthcoming welterweight title fight-which will take place at a 145-pound catchweight-marks the first time that a female bout will headline a stateside event for the sports streaming service since it broke ground in the U.S. in 2018.

Braekhus should be about ten times more famous than she is.

She has the best resume of any female fighter of all time and she's still racking up great wins.

Damn shame, but I gotta hope that the female sport continues to move forward... I honestly ain't a massive fan of Shields but if she helps to break down the stigma and distain with which the women's sport is treated then I wish her all the luck in the world. Give it time man... 50 years from now, 70, when the world looks back with bemusement on the days when it was thought strange for women to box (if we got a history left by then) Cecilia wil be talked about with the same awe the early greats of the mens sport are now.

        Just think.

When Braekhus started out, women's boxing wasn't in the Olympics and the entire sport of boxing was illegal in her home country of Norway.

She's been undisputed since Shields was an amateur, a world champ since Shields was in middle school, but somehow Shields still gets all the press.

Shields is s 2x Olympic gold medalist and a champion in 3 divisions in 3 years, why wouldn't she get press?

            She should get press.

But Braekhus has been beating better opponents for way longer and doesn't get ANY.

Not at welterweight. Breakhus has all the titles.

                WBA+WBC: 25 consecutive defenses
                WBA+WBC+WBO: 22 consecutive defenses
                WBA+WBC+WBO+IBF: 10 consecutive defenses
                WBA+WBC+WBO+IBF+IBO: 8 consecutive defenses

And she has the Ring Pound for Pound belt.

This is a great fight between two reigning champions, really looking forward to this one. I think Braekhus is the best female champion out there, but McCaskill younger and hungrier, so should be a great matchup. I’m a big fan of Braekhus since I saw her fighting over here on HBO. She carries herself very well as a champion and international ambassador for boxing!

You seriously telling me between her Katie Taylor and Clarrisa Sheilds they can come to a catchweight and fight each. Thats what fighting is about fighting the best
