I didn't watch the fight, but from reading Boxing Scene's Round by Round coverage, it seemed like Maskaev was working really hard for the knock out. I didn't think he would knock Rock out after the 11th round had ended, but when I read that he did, I was suprised and he really did impress me. He worked hard for 11 1/2 rounds for the knockout and anyone who works that hard, will achieve their goal, even if it's in the last round. Maskaev deserves the KO and Rock should just retire like Gatti.

Rock looked good early and then Oleg, while solid throughout, really came on towards the end. Oleg wanted it, and you could see he wanted it all night. It was impressive. And it was the best HW fight since Sergei-Brewster. Rock and Oleg were simply trying to knock each other out all night. An exciting HW fight with lots of hard power punches designed to end to fight. That's what everyone likes to see. I really didn't think Oleg had it in him. But he impressed me. Anyone who is being honest (I don't expect that to be you, Bozo, don't worry) will admit that Oleg impressed them tonight. Only you are saying Oleg "looked awful." To be expected.
You're delusional, as always.
Rahman threw 30 jabs a round in his last fight. He came nowhere near that tonight.
They both plodded forward, threw clumsy uncordinated punches, and clinches and pushed eachother around.
By the 9th, they were both spent and had little left.
It was the worst Heavyweight title fight since Rahman Ruiz.
You nut hug white euro Heavyweights, so you looked for what little there was to impress yourself.
That was an awful fight for a $50 PPV title fight, and a showcase of the limited clinch filled un-talent show that is the present Heavyweight division.

You're telling me that Oleg matched up round for round with Rock all the way through, and then stopped him in the last round, and that's not impressive? You're the one who's delusional. And you know it. You're just upset because you wanted and predicted Rock to win.
And you're so wrong about the punches. For HW's the punching tonight was very good. Rock's jab looked as good as it ever has for awhile there. Oleg was throwing a nice jab-cross-hook combo all night that was landing, or partially landing. And with power. Rock was loading up with the right hand frequently, which he only did ONCE in the Toney fight. Yeah, Rock threw more punches in the Toney fight- arm punches. Tapping him. Enough to win, yes, because Toney did nothing but roll around the ring. But Rock threw more serious power punches in 2 rounds tonight than he did in 12 against Toney. He was out to try and KO Maskaev tonight. And looked far better than he did against Toney, at least until he got tired towards the end.

Originally posted by TheGreat1thats cool, i was reading the round by round, and 2 of the Judges had Rahman winning going into the Final round. But even if he woul dhave survived, the 10/8 would have still giving Oleg the fight. How was the judges scorecards? does that sound right? also, i know the winner of this fight has to fight Toney right? (if He gets past Peter)

What's this?
SPINNING.
I never predicted Rock to win numb nuts. I said over and over that because they both lack chin and could punch it was a roll of the dice.
And no, I wasn't impressed. I was bored stiff thinking how low things have gotten when suckers had to pay to watch it (I saw it on a free stream).

I think Nadey got in more work seperating them than either guy did punching.
You just can't deal with the fact that I'm not buying your spin job.
And as usual, you're displaying how poor your understanding is.
Why did Rock thow only one right hand agaisnt Toney? Becuase he was afraid of eating a counter shot he didn't see coming. So instead, he worked from behind a steady and consistent jab, which is when he's at his best no matter who he's fighting.
Tonight he looked to trade and it worked in spots, and work agaisnt him more so.
In the end, they would both throw uncordinated sloppy punches, clinch, and tire themselves out pushing eachother around.
Once again, a terrible sloppy fight for a $50 PPV title fight.

Rock's jab was inconsistant, and that's the key. He elected to trade, which made for a clinch filled sloppy fight.
