Comments Thread For: Vergil Ortiz: I Only Want Step-Up Opponents That Will Help Me Learn

Vergil Ortiz Jr. remained confident that-at some point this year-he could pick up where he and his team left off and move forward with his career. The 2019 Prospect of the Year and rising welterweight enjoyed his have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too moment, when the call came to headline a July 24 show on DAZN. Ortiz (15-0, 15KOs)

Vergil is moving along well for a 15-0 prospect; Ortiz, is already world-level. Protected bums, like Conor Benn, and the so-called 'Olympian' Josh Kelly are struggling to get by washed-up veterans. Michael McKinson is the most overrated of these guys, McKinson fought Kevin McCauley, who has 169 losses ; Vergil Ortiz would of probably left the ring when he heard that record being read in public.

So I don't want to read about anyone complaining about Sammy Vargas.

Vergil Ortiz vs Boots Ennis. Bet Boots dont run and I would love that fight. 2 undefeated up and comes with boat loads of talent. It would be a tough one to pick.

Id like to see Ortiz against a Devon Alexander type fighter. Not sold on fighters being labeled complete until Ive seen them face different styles. I do hope Ortiz is the real deal though. 147 needs a Chicano in the top 10.

Great fight, Ortiz & Boots would smash PBC's WW stable....Boots is aligned with Cameron Dunkin, I believe, this fight could happen..

You forgot about Edgar Berlanga who's been KO all his opponents in the first round. No other current prospect has been doing that.

Didn’t forget but he’s been knocking out guys with 10 losses
                  Not the best opponents
I think Ortiz is the real deal

I wouldn't go that far. With all due respect to Ortiz, he just doesn't have any value for any of the top WWs to fight him. It's the same way with Teofimo. Pedraza, Loma, didn't see any reason to fight him since he didn't have a belt and now that he does Loma has interest in a fight with Lopez.
