Default Does race or nationality stop you from liking or giving a boxer their credit

Of course it does. As Al Bundy put it:

"It is wrong to be French."

this is a pointless thread since nobody is gonna admit to being a racist. Even neo-****s know this so they use all kinds of coded terminology.

Its sad when people allow their nationality/race to allow them not to see certain things or make things unnecessarily bigger because of that. All I care about is talent & skill.
I'm with you. When I first followed boxing I thought it was one of the few sports that racism wasn't involved in. Black fighters with white traimers. White fighters with black trainers. Then I noticed the fans.

I couldn’t care less about a boxers race, passports, undefeated records or whatever. Am more into a boxers style. I prefer the sweet science, my favourite boxer of all time is Ray Leonard (Hence my username), Mayweather, Toney, Calzaghe etc just to name a few. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t s hit on overrated boxers with ****ty resumes.

Even if u had the power to only let a certain race or nationality win fights regardless of bogus undeserved decisions u would end up with a very lousy product in the end. Whatever argument u made for it would only crumble do to the results achieved.

Nationality doesnt matter to me (except maybe for Chinese boxers).

I tend to lean more on style - action packed style.

Yes, just take Deontay Wilder for instance. Why is he the most hated and despised fighter in the world today?

I'll tell you why it's because first; He is an American and he is perceived as the greatest threat to the U.K Global dominance of boxing: Especially in terms of the heavyweight division is concerned and secondly, it is largely due to racial bigotry, prejudice and discrimination in the states.

There appears to be a backlash in America against the black athlete in general and the black fighter in particular. Moreover and, lastly he is even hated among some boxing fans from his own community because of colorism.

There are many African Americans boxing fans who prefer Anthony Joshua over him due to the fact that Deontay Wilder is dark skinned. So once again the answer to your question is yes.

Nationality and race does stop some fans from liking and a giving a boxer their credit.

Yeah I’m Canadian and our boxing world exist pretty much only in Quebec. A lot of our fighters are from other countries originally. We’re happy to support anyone if they fight out of here, we need all the talent we can get. We have a huge Chinese population, more so on the west coast though. It’d be great if a Chinese Canadian fighter achieved success, fame, pride. Get more people involved. Get sum lighter weights fighting for us. I don’t even watch hockey.
