I guess my point was that most fighters, knowing they would make far less due to covid, are just passing on Canelo now for the chance to make more post covid.

Of all the fighters on Canelo's short list, besides GGG, Callum is definitely the most valuable to Canelo. Saying that he's worth less or about the same as Ryder, BJS, or Drevey, doesn't add up. I think Callum coming in at 6m, is him pulling a class act. We all know he could make way more off a Canelo fight post covid. For who he is at 168, I think it says a lot about him to conceit to getting paid way less for a fight like this during these times.

For GBP to counter with 5m, is cheap. Everyone knows how valuable it would be for Canelo's legacy and career to beat Callum. If 5m doesn't cost GBP anything to put on the best f-n show for starved fans then what's giving an extra mil to make everyone happy.

Last important thing to note is that Callum has pull in the UK. So we can definitely bet there would be money coming into both DAZN and SkySports to make up that extra million.

I hope this is all just political bargaining and in the end Callum makes the 6 he originally asked for. If he ends up doing it for 5m, then he's a true hero to us starved boxing fans, and Canelo and his team better not pu55y out the opportunity to be a king at the 168 table.

Callum will be called a bum who lost to Ryder, that is undebatable, its a 100% guarantee to be what haters say. & Smith wouldn't be making much to fight anyone besides Canelo,& to top it off he knows he might lose to anyone else,& end up with no leverage & no money. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. That being said I think the 5 million thing is complete bs & Callum will end up with 6,7 or 8 at least if they fought.(surely at least a mil over the 1st offer if not more.)

A few years ago definitely. Not sure about now. He was a fierce enough puncher to make things interesting. Outside Saunders and Smith I don't care about any potential matchups as much.

What would be your opinion of Canelo if Callum accepted the 5m and Canelo backed out?

That would make no sense,if Callum was offered 5 & accepted it then that means the deal is on. If Canelo was to have somehow submitted him an offer then reneged on it then of course that would be completely btchmade & would be a straight up duck(but up til now Canelo has done more to get big fights done vs champ's that ppl said hed avoid, than anyone,so I can't see that happening when Canelo has never done anything remotely like that without some kind of mitigating circumstance, even Saunders dumbass straight up said he was only going to have to take a slight paycut because of covid, yet still admits he didn't want the fight anymore no matter what because 10 weeks wasn't enough & he wants 5 mos

(BjS actually said that multiple times as clearly as can be & sees no problem with the fact hes had several mos to train & is wbo champ but "still wants at least 4 or 5 mos" because" its hard to get focused & in shape & I'd need like 5 mos otherwise I wouldn't be 100% & I need that long to get in shape enough to actually try winning"(this sad clown is a joke of a boxer, let alone champ)

$5 million is more than Callum Smith is worth.

                Especially during a pandemic.

I agree with this, and I am a Smith fan. He should jump on it. It would be a legit fight for Canelo, better than GGG.

Around the time he was IBF champ, I’d have been interested as well. I just think he’s far too limited now though. Saunders really exposed how one dimensional he is.

Canelo would absolutely brutalise him if it happens IMO.
