Absolutely barbaric savage trash. Elbows, knees, kicks, choke-holds, body slamming, punching while your opponent is on the ground. Just terrible.

Boxing is truly the gentlemen's sport. Even though it is a brutal sport, it is much more civilized. You can only use your fists. You actually use the proper size gloves unlike those small ass "gloves" they use in UFC to maximize damage. The ref steps in if a fighter is hurt and gives him a standing 8. The ref then asks if he is able to continue. If he doesn't respond or his body language is saying no, the ref will wave the fight off right then and there.

Much more civilized than MMA where you take a knee straight to the face, end up on the floor while you are getting punched and the ref lets the fight go on.

If you don't have the skills and stamina in boxing to make it to the final bell, it's going to be a long fight. No kicking, knees, elbows and tackling to bail you out either.

Just admit that you hate that boxing isn't the only gig in town and in 10 years will be the smaller of the 2 combat sports globally (hell i'll argue that MMA is already the dominant combat sport globally now).

boxing is so classy and well run! you got guys flushing their system with iv's the night before the fight and getting tue's, forcing their opponents to wear pillow gloves or they wont fight, guys punching other guys in the balls and getting ko wins, guys headbutting and wrestling nonstop with impunity, judges being on crack in just about every fight, announcers screaming **** **** **** when nothing is happening, besides that its the sweet science

No idea how anyone can diss BJJ from a street fight perspective? It was developed as a way for a smaller man/person to disable a larger threat.

Also there's no honor in a street fight, it's about incapacitating the other person in whatever manner.

Irony is , that kid was probably a blue/purple belt because he didn't apply the choke correctly. If he did that guy would of been out ALOT faster.

Boxing is great in the ring. Problem is the moment you take it outside of the ring against a person who knows multiple combat arts (judo and wrestling along with Kickboxing for me) and good situational awareness and its over.

Boxers aren't hard to deal with because their foot work is designed for punching and mobility exclusively. An ankle pick or single/power double can negate that and as soon as it gets to the ground that "boxer" is done for.

You say they've got glass jaws...did you never consider the possibility that 4oz gloves, no counts after a KD, and more weapons to hurt someone with might lead to the KOs, rather than some magical coincidence that everyone that choose to do MMA instead of boxing was born with a ****ty chin?

It is a bit too much at times like ground and pound and stuff, but at least they fight each other unlike boxing, that if ever they fight each other is when they are like 50.

I like all combat sport, but MMA though I prefer to see a stand up fight rather then on the floor wrestling and Jiu Jitsu

BJJ is only effective 1 on 1 and I wouldn’t recommend going to ground on a concrete street with people around. A kick to the head from an idiot/friend is a very real possibility. Sure a ‘street fight’ in large area between two people with no one around BJJ can be very effective. But you’re still going to have to have some understanding of how to close the distance without getting punched and you’re not going to be rolling that scenario (with real punches) so you may get clipped.

Also BJJ can lose its effectiveness when there’s a big weight difference, especially when you’re not a higher rank. If you’re 180lb new purple belt there’s not guarantee you’re going to be to take down and choke out a strong 250lb guy.

I'm looking at it as a person who cares about fights that draw money.

Khabib/Ferguson does not draw new money.

Rose Namajunas by herself does not draw money.

When I say "draw money", I mean pull in people who would normally not watch the product.

Brock/DC would have drawn money, because that phony beef was staged perfectly to entice a fight. Just like when Undertaker ran up on Brock ("...wanna do it?") which was a shoot. Just like when CM Punk debuted and "Cult of Personality" hit.

It doesn't matter about the fight. It's about the spectacle. Drawing new fans to the product. THEN, use your exciting fighters like Amanda Nunes and The Queen of Violence to keep the fans who like action, use Rachel Ostovich to keep the (male) fans where sex sells. That's how you do it.

That's what I want to see.

McGregor will draw money no matter who he's in with, but the promoters can heavily build rubber matches. You, the hardcores, just want to see the latest 'eye tests' get their shot. But those guys are not entertaining. They will not draw money.

Lol Jesus bro this is some straw clutching ****. In boxing the biggest money fights AND fights between the two top guys in a division (its often one and the same) get marinated for years on end. Floyd/Pac was the biggest potential fight in boxing for like 6-7 years by the time it actually happened. Canelo/GGG was nowhere near as bad as that but it was still a good 2-3 years of people only wanting to see those two fight each other before it finally went down. In 2017-2018 hype for AJ/Wilder was at fever pitch, but instead of the greedy promoters getting **** done they stalled it until it got derailed. AJ/Fury is the biggest fight in boxing now by a wide margin but look how that has played out so far. We had to wait 15 months between Fury/Wilder 1 + 2 and now five months after the rematch we are waiting on a pretty needless third fight between them while Joshua is fighting Pulev. So likely scenario is 2021 at best we see that fight. People started getting hyped up for Usyk at HW in 2018, we are now in mid 2020 and the extent of his HW run has been fighting Chazz ****ing Witherspoon. Spence/Crawford can be forgiven to some extent because of the crash, but thats another fight that probably should have happened by now. And neither guy has fought Pac yet either even though (with the possible exception of fighting each other) its the biggest fight for both.

If the same applied in the UFC you'd regularly have situations where #1 and #2 in a division were being kept away from each other for years on end.
