For starters, Wilder is not a small guy. He may be skinny but by no means is he small.
Why Deontay Wilder hit so hard despite being a light and skinny heavyweight?

Sometimes it seems to e like it has to do with a certain mindset. Like deadly punchers just don't give a *****, having no regard for the consequences of their punches whatsoever. I mean, a "normal" person has some restraints, doesn't really want to crush a skull of another human being, even if only subconsciously, doesn't really use full force. In certain circumstances though, a full force seems activated, like in cases you sometimes hear about, mothers lifting cars to save their children etc. The power of guys like Wilder, Kovalev, Tyson seems fully activated in the ring.Comment

Before the Fury fight he was the same size as Foreman! How is the light!? Liston and Lewis were smaller.
In his fight against Fury he was 230, and was still very lean. Not a small dude at all.Comment

Hearns and Corrales had the same build and had huge power.
Morales had pretty good power at 122 and looked rail thin at that weight.
IDK there are probably other examples Im missing but it seems like a common trend. Even SRL when he was young, he had a thin build and he was like 5'10'' tall enough for a welterweight and he hit hard too.Comment

It is very simple. he brings the whole his weight to the punch when he hits with the right hand.
He is totally out of balance when he hits with right hand. At this moment, even Lago Kiladze could stop him if Wilder misses his shot.Comment
