Next Friday night ( July 24th ), Vergil Ortiz takes on 31-5-2 Sammy Vargas. You might remember him from the gif that I shared in this thread of him dropping Amir 'King' Khan.

I know Sammy. He's a hit or miss kinda guy. Good test for Ortiz at this point. I pick Ortiz. He's too good and too fresh for Vargas.

      War Vargas!

Collazo would be a tough test for him. Collazo still better than Samuel Vargas.

Sammy Vargas is the perfect foil to make Virgil look "explosive".

Lets see him against the likes Jamal James, Sergei Lipinets,Thomas Dulorme etc etc ... then we can get a good read on him!!

Mauricio Herrera and Antonio Orozco had never been stopped before, until they met Vergil Ortiz in the ring.

Yes Sammy Vargas is made for Ortiz, but the aforementioned greater skilled opponents were not. Jamal James, Sergei Lipinets,Thomas Dulorme, are you kidding me?!

Collazo is great name for anyone ; Jaron 'Boots' Ennis ( who I like ) would love to have a win over Collazo -- he needs a name yo!

Vergil Ortiz is only 15-0 and has names! These welterweights need to step their game-up!
Vergil is not fighting Collazo, he's fighting the guy who lost to Collazo! Vargas is an appropriate opponent! However he's no monster! Vergil should win this in 6!

The Mauricio Herrera that controversially lost to Danny Garcia in 2014 would also have STOPPED the pregnant looking Mauricio Herrera who Vergil stopped. This version of Mauricio showed up to pick up a paycheck. He had a name to $ell and he SOLD it.

NO i am not kidding you!!! I'll take anyone of them over Sammy!!

I like Virgil and want him to do well.
I just dont get carried away with the over the top praise.
Let him earn it against quality opponents.
He has time on his side.
