Not too mention there was no live gate & all the expenses they had to get the green light with all the testing & such.
Having nothing else on tv certainly helps, but Bob Arum hasn't been able to capitalize and he's on ESPN as well.

At some point, boxing has to start putting on intriguing matchups.

UFC cards are always better than boxing since they don't pay fighters as much. that's good for the fans. I can't remember the last time boxing had a great card.

Masvidal doesnt have anywhere near the highest skill level. He is not anywhere near being a p4p level talent, and came in as a last minute replacement for someone who would have been much more a stylistic threat to Usman.

Having 7 or 8 losses in MMA isnt the same as in boxing because you get put into 50/50 match ups constantly with basically zero record padding. And you havent heard of the guys he lost to because you dont follow the sport, all but the most casual MMA fan knows who those guys are.

MMA fighters...are not skilled at combat....MMA fighters.....****ing MMA fighters....mixed martial artists. In comparison to ****ing boxers as well. The insane **** some people will come up with to justify preferring boxing.....

The main thing boxing has going for it is its an institution like baseball, so in spite of all the negatives we will all still watch it forever out of habit, because we grew up with it.

Too many of boxing’s top fighters are also top duckers.
            “Marinating” high demand fights.

Trying to protect their “0” in order to promote themselves as the best.

Boxing has taken a huge backseat to UFC.

UFC fighters are constantly fighting the best of the best.
Plus they have more exciting personas.

Not many here will enjoy hearing this, but much of boxing’s decline is due to Floyd.

For a decade Floyd promoted himself as the best and pointing to his undefeated record as the reason why. For that simple reason he sold the most PPV’s.

But he didn’t win fights by finishing his opponents.
He won fights by avoiding combat, only punching when a opening was there, and waiting for time to expire. He avoided certain opponents until he felt comfortable in fighting them, knowing damn well his “defensive” style of avoiding combat and limiting action doesn’t decline nor does it reduce in effectiveness where as offensive styles do.

He left many casual boxing fans with a sore taste in their mouth.

Now many boxers try and replicate that same strategy but it doesn’t work.

Thank the boxing gods for Canelo and PAC to keep the sport pulsing at least to survive.

Jorge was ranked #4 in the division. Usman had already beaten #3 in his previous fight and was booked to fight #2 on that show before it fell through like a week before. So no, that isnt record padding, record padding is fighting guys like Tom Schwarz and Steve Rolls. Or being WBC champion for over 3 years and on your 7th defence before you fight an actual top guy in the division, Wilder style.

Just think of the **** we all tolerate in boxing. Its basically the norm to have to wait 3+ years to see the biggest fights get made. **** is ****ing ridiculous.

Lol @ people still thinking **** like this in 2020. I thought MMA had blown the lid off this kinda stuff by now. You know...given that its a sport thats evolved based around what worked and didnt work in style vs style fights with very little in the way of rules to inhibit any of those styles.

I find it bizarre people constantly have to pit MMA against Boxing, there's plenty of space for both the sports. But what I love the most, is ***** ass " fans" like yourself, I bet you've never even laced a glove up you clown, talking like you are the last defender of boxing, boxing doesn't need your ***** ass to defend it. You've probably done 2 or 3 boxing cardio classes and now consider yourself a boxer, you utter melt.
