This is smart by Arum, and benefits Top Rank and Rahman, but it sucks for the HW division and boxing in general. Arum knows he'll be out a belt if Rock faces Wlad in Nov. No sense in getting one great payday (and lose) when you can get 3-4 good paydays in easy title defenses. It's how King handled Byrd and nursed the IBF title along for years. Sad. He's putting this out before the fight, because he wants to deflect all the "Will Rock face Wlad?" questions before they start. He now has a nice polished response "Well, we have plans to fight in China in Nov already..." etc.

Rahman was in even better shape (233 pounds) the first time he fought Maskaev.

Rock didnt stick to the smart gameplan last fight though. He should hopefully jab his way to a victory. We'll see what happends, well read what happends, unless someone is crazy enough to actually buy this ppv.
