There is a difference between the next big thing and being a champ. Ryan may be good enough some day to be the undisputed champ but I do not believe he is there yet. I agree he has the potential to be the next big thing but he has plenty more to learn and grow before that day comes.Comment

I'm having a lot more respect for this dude the more I see he wants to face the top names. What happens when he actually fights them is for another conversation.
The fact that he's willing to give up on a big name promotional company so he can be free to pursue the big fights is pretty cool. He already realized he can be continually fed stiffs that present no challenge to score easy first rd KOs and pick up a paycheck but that does zip for his career/legacy.
Much respect. I hope either GBP listens to him or do in fact cut him so he can go his own way and try to build a real legacy. While I'm not sure he is truly ready for top competition, we just might never know that unless he faces it. He just might surprise the hell out of everyone or we'll be giving that told you so speech. Either way, it's a refreshing attitude from the usual up comers who are happy feeding on weak competition for an easy paycheck.Comment

Don't blame Oscar I'd let Garcia go if he is just problematic and the deals made are not economically favorable to the company. Regardless of talent it's the promoters who turn 5hit into stars.Comment

I've been very impressed with Ryan in his past few fights. Campbell is a pick 'em type fight (Betfair has KingRy as a slight favorite) without huge upside. Then, if he wins, he becomes the mandatory for Haney, who could potentially box rings around him.
Golden Boy tends to match their prospects pretty tough and Ryan seems to want it much tougher/faster. I guess I can't blame him for wanting to step up but I'm afraid this career track will cost him hundreds of millions. Of course, if he KOs Campbell and Haney, he's a superstar at 22.Comment

So I'm opposite of all of you.
Unlike Crawford, Ryan is not satisfied getting paid to crush cans. He wants a big fight, while in his absolute prime. I respect that. Same as Tank.
Maybe Ryan should join up with Uncle Al Haymon. Fights don't seem to be an issue over there for some reason.Comment
