Can you believe Ward had this fight close, he gave Forrest rounds 6,7,8 and 9. Like how?

I'm not sure if Ward even believes his own commentary about that. I assume that he was giving extra credit to Forrest just because he was doing slightly better in the latter part of the fight. Early in the fight he was getting tagged a lot and he wasn't landing much at all. In the later rounds he landed some shots..even though he still didn't manage to win many rounds.

Ward is horrendous as a commentator/pundit. Nearly as bad as kriegal. Infact all of the espn crew needs to be fired tbf. Even tessitore is unbearable without teddy.

Comment of the month right here. They fired Teddy for speaking truth. Kriegel makes every moment a made for TV drama. The guy is literally boxing clueless.

I gave Forrest 2-3 rounds in the second half of the fight but Takam clearly won the fight. Not sure if it's the 39 years, several hundred hard rounds or the scheduling changes but Takam looked old in there to me. That being said, he was still a few levels above Forrest who had problems throwing more that a two punch combination and looked apprehensive.

Takam vs Rivas would be good or even Takam vs Hunter.

I enjoyed the fight nonetheless and enjoyed the opening bout as well. I've been very happy with these ESPN cards twice a week.

Comment of the month right here. They fired Teddy for speaking truth. Kriegel makes every moment a made for TV drama. The guy is literally boxing clueless.

I can't stand Kriegel but I like Ward. I didn't agreed with his card but I thought Forrest won a few rounds after Takam slowed down and was more interested in his cut then the opponent in the second half of the fight

I agree with your statement. My dream lineup would be Foreman, Malinaggi, Atlas, Roy Jones Jr and Bernstein.

Ahh, I was just talking about this to a friend today. I'm with you on Malignaggi, RJJ, Atlas and Bernstein. I know he's passed away but I loved Manny Steward's insight as a commentator.

What's funny about RJJ is that he'd say some off the wall statement that I (and typically Lampley) didn't understand then breaks it down and not only would it make sense but it would often play out just like he said it. Very underrated commentary IMO.

Hugely underrated! The man knows his boxing and I believe if he stuck at it full time would make an excellent trainer.
