Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker vs. Junior Fa - Teams Continue Heated Talks To Finalize Deal

The negotiations have resumed for a heavyweight grudge match between Joseph Parker and Junior Fa. Parker, a former WBO world champion, had planned to fight again in August or September. That plan may get pushed back as talks continue for the Fa encounter.

Only in this awful overrated crap division, can a local Kiwi-Bum like Junior Fa, make A-side type demands against a former world-champion who has traveled the world and fought on PPV multiple times.

A sad sign of what has become of Joseph Parker.

Would like to see this fight as I quite enjoy regional rivalry fights and
I'd specifically like to see Parker win. He's frustrating to watch sometimes but he's willing to step into the ring with anyone (even if he's not always willing to try and be great). Fa hasn't ever impressed me and has been stagnant with his career for some time now.

Fa is a threat to Parker because of familiarity of getting wins off of him back in the day .Domestic rivals almost always produce best fights . It’s another ugly match up for Parker ,even in a win he’s probably going to have another one of those struggling fights . Fa is skipping the line here not fighting step up fights but I’d like to see this one.

On paper sure but you are assuming neither boxer has changed since their encounters from "back in the day". Without watching all 4 fights, knowing that each has 2 wins that would stand to say that at least they changed something up in each fight to get the win. I would assume Parker has the better experience having gone up against some of the worlds best. The only advantage Fa would have is the mental game and being able to possibly get into Parkers head and generate doubt.

If 500,000 NZD equals 10x his highest payday to day and DiBella is admitting that the guarantee is at least 300,000 that would still be 6x his highest payday. Who cares about how big this fight can be in NZ. Fa has clearly shown that very few are interested in watching him fight. Yes I get that rivalries generate buzz etc but that does not always equate to big numbers.

Frank Sanchez will accept that payday.

Let's make that fight happen instead.
