Remember when people thought AMIR KHAN was the next P4P king

    Because I do

It didn't last long but after the Maidana fight people started to think his chin was actually not bad, he became a unified champion easily dispatching Judah, and HBO were going all in on him.

Freddie Roach said he was better than PAC was at the same age

Then lamont petersen and the hat man put and end to that, and garcia nailed the door shut.

Rumour has it that it was actually hat man that wrapped Tyson Furys’s hands.

I remember the furore within the country surrounding him off the back off Olympics. It was a point where news of this youngest possible medalist.. A huge silver medal was it?? It was pretty sickly tbh.. the country loves to root and get caught up in the new thing within the news even though most of them didn't have a clue what boxing were..

I was praying the day he got sparko and and the country got brought back to reality...

He's made a decent wedge off the back of it though.

The thing with Khan is against certain styles he could look elite, normally pure boxers. A couple of those fights he won so comprehensively that he looked several levels above them. I'm thinking Kotelnik, Paulie, Devon, Collazo all good fighters, beltholders and I think it came down to the manner in which Khan beat them. Also after Maidana you could see he might always struggle against punchers but now he proved he could beat them at a high level...basically I could see how the hype ramped up.

But the difference between p4p fighters and world champions is that they can go through a gauntlet of world champions, different styles and win most of them and dispatch guys not on their level. Khan was vulnerable against too many styles. Against Peterson - Lamont realised he could not live with Khan in a pure boxing match after the first round, his versatility allowed him to start walking him down, Khan could never adjust to someone who was willing and committed to invading his space. Whatever you think about Peterson, he would test any fighter but I think most p4p type fighters would create separation and beat him clearly.

He also got in a war with Julio Diaz for various reasons.

Danny Garcia as well, I think he would always be a problem for Khan because he has an awesome chin and great timing.

You take someone like Cotto, HOF career at elite level he won some and lost some, but he could look after himself against every style. It was only the Pac fight where he was nowhere, but that is Pac in his prime prob one of the 25 greatest fighters AT.

Khan could hit super heights with some of his performances, he dominated some guys in a way that better fighters than him couldn't because of his physical gifts, but ultimately the ring always reveals the truth.

Well considering HBO, an American broadcaster that made zero revenue from the UK brought him in and put him in a showcase position and hyped the hell out of him, I think you are talking bollocks, as usual really.
