I don’t see anyone walking around and claiming he was the greatest of his generation so how exactly is he overrated?

He was a beloved action fighter who wasn’t afraid to challenge anyone. His exciting style earned him top dollar and with those paydays came some delusional fans, as is always the case.

      Final verdict: not overrated.

This is something that often gets overlooked. This is why Canelo will never be remembered as fondly as Dela Hoya. Dude fought everyone.

I think he was a great fighter and I used to really enjoy watching him. The fights with mosley were high class, close fights and the Trinidad fight was a bad mistake on his part. The fact that he pushed Mayweather all the way towards the end of his career proves how good he was.

I can agree with that. De La Hoya is properly rated as a hall-of-famer who wasn't an all-time great. For me, his best quality was his willingness to face just about everyone when he could have taken an easier route as the sport's cash cow.

Hell no. Would be a better sport if every big name was so willing to take risks.
