The answer is yes but this all gets overlooked. Just like how people avoid all the controversial moments he’s had out of the ring.

Was Oscar De La Hoya overrated?

For the last 8 years of his career he was a half-time boxer. He could have been greater but he just wasn't fully in it. I also think his anxiety had a great negative affect on him, he exerted so much anxious energy early on by the late rounds he was drained.

Oscar is much like Ryan Garcia, a pretty boy, with lot of mass market appeal and thats what's gonna get them far in the sport.
Oscar got to be the Golden Boy by fighting the best and biggest names around 147. But if we keeping it a buck the competition in Oscar's era was far tougher than todays era or the last 10 years.

Ridiculous. De La Hoya fought any and everyone. He's got some A+ wins on his resume, and should have Trinidad's 0 on his resume as well as a win over Mosley. That's some serious ****. Overrated? No chance. His name is in the history books for a reason.

De La Hoya would beat any active welterweight today quite clearly, based on what we have seen from them this far.
