Day 6: on a scale of 1-10, how impressive was Floyd's win over Canelo?

This fight is always talked about on here but I have not seen anyone rate it. To this day, it's the only L Canelo has taken.

    8 out 10

Alvarez was just about to prime. Would be better if he was prime

Complete shut out. Awe-inspiring performance from Floyd at 36 fighting someone 13 years his junior at his highest weight class. That said, he didn't beat Canelo of today. However that loss did turn Canelo into a great fighter

7 out of 10, the catchweight really hurt Canelo there.

It was a Quasi-Past Prime Floyd vs a Green Canelo at the end of the day. Give credit where it's due to Floyd but Canelo was essentially a "kid" when Floyd fought him coming off his biggest win / named opponent (Austin Trout), and also fought him at a 152lb catch weight (when he could've just beat him at full 154 anyway). Was there a rehydrate clause with this one? I completely forgot.

I'd give this one a 7. It was obviously a very strong performance by Floyd in shutting down a younger, stronger opponent, but equally it was a bad performance by Canelo. He looked like he had no real gameplan whatsoever and never really made a real effort to try and make something happen. It's obvious in retrospect it was a fight that he mentally wasn't really ready for. It was his weakest performance by far but he's come a hell of a long way since then.

              he had gameplan

Canelo didn’t find his identity yet and wanted to be a Mexican Mayweather

Everyone who tries to outcounter Floyd gets their azz handed to them: Marquez, Alvarez, manny

Alvarez maybe won 1 round? This was Mayweather's last great performance. Many experts where picking Alvarez to beat Floyd Mayweather etc

10/10. A past-prime Floyd moved up in weight and stood right in front of a heavily hyped, bigger, stronger guy with fast hands, (who offered the catch-weight, in case people try to revise history), and countered him effortlessly whether fighting in the middle of the ring or with his back on the ropes, while taking probably less than 10 clean, hard shots in 12 rounds. Important to note that a good percentage of this forum not only picked Canelo to win, but previously claimed Mayweather would never fight Canelo in the first place.

I’d give it a 10. Definitely Mayweather’s best win IMO.

I don’t buy into the he was green or drained or any of those narratives.

At 23 Alvarez was a quality world champion, and Mayweather despite being the considerably older and naturally smaller man, completely dominated him.

That version of Mayweather is the best version I’ve ever seen tbh.
