Comments Thread For: Manager: Lemieux Will Not Fight Canelo Alvarez On The Cheap

For the last few years, former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux has been chasing for a fight with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez. Several times, that goal was derailed for one reason or another.

That’s how you know most of these fighters nowadays are greedy pussified punks.

First ggg insisted on more than he was worth, fired his trainer because he wanted to cut his pay then he tells a friend from his native country that he can’t help him out meanwhile canelo helped the kid with sparring.

Bjs and smith both greedy punks that lost on a career high payday.

Now Lemieux another greedy ***** that most likely will lose his career high payday due to greed.

It’s a combination of greed and fear because you know damn well that if they truely believed they could beat canelo they would take the purse and beat him and become a super star.

Problem is they don’t believe they can beat him so they look to cash out.

For Sept. GBP should stop wasting time with fighters whom are former or current Champs. The advisory that those boxers have followed the Al Haymon trend to ask for more than what is truly worth. And these boxers are exploiting a pandemic circumstance that if they have to submit to a closed setting or at least train while still with uncertainty then they want to get paid more.

It’s like with Szeremeta, who cares that the fight is happening since GGG has been firm and dedicated to the fight. Szeremeta never been around the big lights before and this is his biggest payday nor is he even known. That’s why that fight hasn’t had any disruption.

Whereas with Canelo, Lemieux can still DRAW in Canada...some PPV.. John Ryder is the best bet..

Perhaps GBP is just throwing Lemieux’s name for Ryder’s mgmt to hurry up. Similar to
Smith and BJS tagging. Because of Lemieux GBp lost a good fight with Ryder and Akkawy was the replacement. Ryder was stay ready whereas Lemieux wasn’t.

Therefore Ryder deserves the fight more than Lemieux. Ryder has also been vocal that he has been training and ready.

This is what happens when you put a boxer on a pedestal and give a boxer a monster deal..

Other boxers also want a bigger slice and fights don't materialize..

No wonder people call Canelo out for having a resume full of bums.. they're the only ones willing to fight for a dollar meal..

Take the fights if you're confident and call the shots afterwards..

There is a happy medium somewhere within negotiations but ones with the money don't want to part, ones without it, want it..

The challengers need to realise that the money on offer is most likely the biggest they'd get in the current market and Canelo needs to realise if he wants to be a great he's gotta churn out those big wins.. with the looks of his deal (feel free to correct me) it makes no odds whether it's a belt holder or a shelf stacker..

Very well said. I didn’t really think much about it when posters would say opponents are afraid of getting knocked out. I never thought about it that way, naively. I’m thinking, if Canelo had half of his KO’s or didn’t stop Kovalev or didn’t tame a bigger Jacobs or stand and trade with GGG, then I think most fighters would regress back to a 2015 Canelo. Canelo is significantly bigger today and is always showing and posting how he smashes the heavy bags.

I sincerely think opponent are afraid of getting KTFO so they use the angle of getting paid for that. Lol. I think the only guy who isn’t genuinely afraid is Benavidez. Only thing is Benavidez wants no less than 5million. Problem also is that he’s Al Haymon. GBP don’t can’t be wasting time for back and back for during pandemic times. The most logical approach is a fighter’s reputation like Ryder.

It’s silly for anyone to think Lemieux is scared of being knocked out. Seems people have forgotten that back in 2015 when GGG was knocking everyone out. Only one 160 lbs champ was willing to take the fight that being Lemieux. The other 160 lbs champs at that time Cotto(WBC) & Saunders(WBO) avoided GGG like the plague. We can all question Lemieux judgement but never the dudes courage. Here’s to cooler heads prevailing and Lemieux taking the Canelo fight @ a discount. Much rather see that fight than Ryder or Dirrell neither of who have a chance @ beating Canelo, while Lemieux atleast holds a punchers chance.

I agree. I don’t think Lemieux is “scared.” But it’s a waste of time bringing up Lemieux because he gets pull in Canadian attendance and an American PPV on his belt. Those merits allow for hard negotiations and at this point this shet is getting boring . I just want a Canelo date announced ffs. I think Ryder is the best fit. I mean there’s a poll that Ryder would beat Szeremeta so I don’t care if GGG fans or Canelo haters instigate against Canelo.

                  What a shock.

A boxer says he wants to get paid if he fights boxing’s biggest draw. Canelo fans go insane because people won’t fight their lover for pennies.

I’m not sure why they care so much.

Yeah and unfortunately for you Lemieux’s pay hasn’t been disclosed. But circulation within forum members feel Smith pricing himself out around $10mil is at least a figure to discuss. at least come back with numbers if you feel to defend Lemieux’s “cheap” pricing.
