Super middleweight contender John Ryder is hoping to get himself a crack at Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in the fall. Canelo is scheduled to return to the ring in September, with no opponent secured as a of yet. Because there of the current COVID-19 restrictions which prevent live crowds, there won't be a boatload of money available for Canelo's next opponent.

All things considered including Canelo's recent prep for a southpaw I think this is a solid option.

Be good to see Ryder benefit from his performance against Smith. Be far more entertaining a scrap too than seeing a light heavy drain down or an over the hill former champ get the call.

I'll give Canelo a lot of credit if he takes this. Almost everyone had him beating Smith, but not many in the US watched, to casual fans he has too many losses, doesn't look the part etc.
