For the simple fact he was out for nearly two years and he put on that type of performance against an ATG. Albeit, that was against someone coming up two weight classes. Marquez later proved to be respectable at WW a few years later but still, Floyd can't get THAT much credit for that win. Still was impressive.
The way Floyd dismantled Marquez was impressive considering he was away from the ring for almost two years. But extenuating circumstances brings it down a couple of notches. The fight was originally a catchweight bout that Floyd was unable to meet as this was Marquez's first fight above 135. He jumped two weight classes and drank p1ss to receive that schooling. He would have success later on at 147 of course, KO6 but at the time he was a blown up lightweight.
Floyd gets credit for fighting a top guy after a long layoff.
But the fact that Marquez was fighting at 147 for the first time after spending the bulk of his career at 127 takes a little shine off Floyd's win.
Add to that the fact that Floyd came in above the agreed to weight and still couldn't stop the little guy and I'd rate the win a 5.
anyone who picked higher, feel free to bet against me in upcoming fights at any time. I feel that you are so disconnected from reality that you amount to a clueless blank check for me.
8. An easy, shut out victory against that level of opposition should always be classed as very impressive. Marquez was coming up in weight, but doesn't take anything away from Floyd's performance in my opinion.
