I thought Golovkin deserved the nod twice at 35 and 36 years old, although the second fight was a close a.f coulda gone either way affair. Could argue Canelo is still improving I guess, but I'm not sure the improvement in Canelo is more significant than the slide in GGG between 31 years old and 35/6 years old.

Based on 2 fights between a late 30s GGG and a prime Canelo, I'm convinced that, prime vs prime, GGG would certainly have won. The only question in my mind is whether Canelo could go the distance against a 31 year old GGG at 160lbs.

I don't think he could. GGG by late round stoppage with Canelo still on his feet, but cut up and taking a pounding on the ropes would be my pick.
