Bud, I see the bigger point you are trying to make but we ain't trying to hear that at the moment. We are trying to hear you making sure that Arum locks in Ugas and not Brook as your next opponent!

might be true, but what top pbc guy is willing to fight Kavaliauskas for example, if you are pushing for Crawford-Ugas then dont be surprised if someone asks for Spence-Benavidez or Porter-Kavaliauskas

Crawford has had the weakest competition out of any of the top 5 pound for pound fighters. I don't think he has boxed a top ten welterweight yet. Horn lost to Pacquiao, got a gift, and that is his best opponent. He looks great when he fights because of his weak opposition. I think Porter beats him if they ever fight.

Benavidez would be a tough out for all of them except for Spence because Spence is too big, rangy, and defensive. I think Manny KD Benavidez also in a UD.

Mean Machine would be a narrow decision or SD with Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, and Shawn Porter. Manny probably takes it close but clear UD and Spence should win that one as well.

People hate on Crawford's resume but hes fighting best available competition in his THIRD weight division. That in itself is impressive especially when you consider none of PBC WWs are willing to fight Crawford... :-/
fighting the best available competition would mean him fighting Ugas Or Porter next, not Brook. And those types of fights have already been available for Crawford, he just hasn't taken those challenges. Horn did not beat Pacquiao, that was a straight up robbery brought on by some home cooking, Horn only gave PAC fits because he's a big dude, not because of his talent.

PBC fighters have been fighting a round robin at 147 for as long as I can remember, and very little separates one from the other. As far as I'm concerned, Ugas beat Porter. Porter nearly beat Spence. Porter lost to Thurman. These guys aren't going to prove how good they are by continuing to fight each other. It's like they are inbred Champs. It seems like one of them that doesn't currently hold a title should roll the dice against Crawford.

That having been said, Crawford is talking nonsense here. He might be getting paid well, but Bob isn't getting him good fights. He's in a similar situation to Charlo at 160. Nobody has to fight him.

The only part I agree with is the Jeff Horn fight. Crawford is spot on with that one.

But I also think that seeing Manny go through that kind of hell against Horn helped him to prepare for Horn. It's not his fault thought because that happens to other fighters as well but if Crawford had fought Horn before Manny he would have also had a tough time because nobody really knew how Horn fights before Manny and I'm sure tape of him was hard to find.

He also of course probably had the best training camp of his life coming into the Manny fight and the Crawford fight but it's more relevant in the Manny fight because it was shocking how good he was despite the fouls and the dirty tactics.

Still, he's absolutely right, he does deserve credit for beating Horn the way he did.

I also give credit to Horn because he didn't try to milk the belt he immediately asked for all the thought fights he was calling out Crawford and all the PBC welters from the get go.

I can give him credit for how he handled adversity against Mean Machine and came back strong. It shows he has that clutch gene but I absolutely can't pretend Mean Machine is this top level welter. He's absolutely not. He's average at best.

Maybe he was just super prepared for Crawford and had the perfect game plan but that's a once off, we've seen this dude fight before and he ain't that good and he certainly hasn't achieved anything to say he is a top welter.

Bernavidez has talent, and he also has freakish height and reach stats, so I can see how that can be troublesome. Crawford dominated and stopped him, he did what he had to do.

But the guy is unproven and had a shot leg, that can't be ignored.

I give him credit for beating all those guys the way he did, I acknowledge he is a top welter, but I can't say he is the best welter for sure.

I think he and Spence are by far the best welters, but we need it to be proven in the ring. Spence is well on his way with his impressive victories over Porter, Garcia, and Brook. If he beats Garcia clean as well, then I'll say for sure he is the best welter.

Pac is ducking Spence blatantly so I can't say anything about him. If you don't want to fight the best then there is nothing to say. And he also lost to Jeff Horn but the Thurman victory was absolutely sensational.

Bud is approaching his mid 30s and spence is an unknown quantity after the crash. Boxing fans lost out on two prime welterweights unifying. I tab Crawford as the best at 147 but his rhetoric about taking a backseat in lieu of smaller paydays means he’ll be dying on the vine in regards to his physical viability. We’ll probably never have another Leonard-hearns because the landscape of the sport has changed but this would’ve been as close as we could’ve gotten to it in recent memory.
