As well de la Hoya should be. Linares has all the skills and experience to toy with Garcia. That being said, Linares does have a bit of quit in him when he gets hit hard and is getting up there in age. So it’s a pretty good matchup.

I also don't like the lack of confidence and ambition these young fighters are exhibiting these days, 20 years ago young fighters would jump on such opportunities in no time to build their credibility. Linares is no slouch, but he is 34 years old, he has 5 losses all by stoppage and he was stopped by Cano just 18 months ago and Cano was never an elite fighter and he himself was past his best when he stopped Linares.
Linares is the perfect opponent for a prospect that wants to elevate his status to a serious contender and I see no reason other than lack of confidence that would prevent Garcia from fighting him.Comment

Are you for real? Linares may be past his prime but he's no bum and his experience and skill level makes him a great opponent for Garcia at this point in his career.Oscar Del La Hoya, what a fucking douche? How could you throw your own fighter under the bus like that in public in order to sell a fight? Linares is damn near 35 years of age. He is physically diminished whose skills are on the decline. Garcia should stop him in no later than 3 rounds.
Just because Garcia has knocked over a bunch of C and D level opponents doesn't mean he's going to blow out Linares in a couple of rounds. Who would you suggest they match Garcia up with? He's not getting Loma, Haney or Davis next. WTF do you think they are going to get as Garcia's next opponent?Comment

What are you on about? Garcia is 21 years old! He has lots of time to sucuumb to drugs and personal habits. Time will tell if he stays on the right track. De La Hoya wasn't a cross dressing cokehead when he was 21 dude.
De La Hoya already has a golden boy in Canelo. Garcia is golden boy in training, just like Vergil Ortiz.Comment

throw him in with the lions since he is asking for it... then watch him lose and cry about bad promoting from oscar for rushing him lol..Comment

He has the experience over Garcia I do admit that. There's no question about it but the man has been stopped in all five of his losses and chances are he's going to be stopped again, if he so chooses to challenge Ryan Garcia; Who hasn't lost or been stopped in his short career. Are you for real? Linares may be past his prime but he's no bum and his experience and skill level makes him a great opponent for Garcia at this point in his career.

Truth Bomb: Oscar has it already rigged for Garcia, Garcia has been designated to be a future franchise. In today's American boxing stage, designated future franchises never lose. Linares is getting a payday and bonus to play the patsy role.Comment

oh dear...
Sure on some level Oscar is comparing this kid to himself, but it benefits Golden Boy to make him a true star, so doubtful any "hating" is applicable here.
Instagram followers do not equal success. This kid has some talent, no doubt, but he doesn't really have a story. He needs fights. He needs serious opponents. Linares is that next step, a diminished, yet distinguished vet that offers just the right amount of risk.
I love the fight and hope it comes off.
P.S.
Vergil is going to the be the real star of the stable.Comment
