  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Worried For Ryan Garcia in Test With Jorge Linares

Golden Boy Promotions head Oscar De La Hoya is tasked with developing and guiding the career for one the fastest rising stars in the sport in Ryan Garcia. Garcia (20-0, 17 KOs) is coming off back-to-back first-round knockouts of respectable contenders, and De La Hoya believes the sky's the limit for the 21-year-old.

Garcia is making a lot of (annoying) noise about how great he is so throw him in with the names he's calling for. Swim or sink.

Oscar Del La Hoya, what a fucking douche? How could you throw your own fighter under the bus like that in public in order to sell a fight? Linares is damn near 35 years of age. He is physically diminished whose skills are on the decline. Garcia should stop him in no later than 3 rounds.

Linares is a great test for Ryan. If Ryan is determined to fight Tank or Devin later this year, or early next year, then Oscar has to be willing to give him a test like Linares! I'm sure Arum was just as nervous to let Lopez fight Commey. In fact, if Linares does not want that work, I think Commey would be a good opponent for Ryan as well!

Ryan and Oscar will never get along well for the same reason teenage females bicker. They're both attention seeking, envious of others and love to go tit for tat on social media. Make the Linares fight and if he wins, put him in with one of the other young lions. I don't see Ryan beating any of them but good $ should be generated either way.

                These guys are petty.

Anyway, I expect Linares to fight Haney instead of Garcia.

I think this is exactly the type of fight that Garcia needs to gain credibility, this is the fight that will tell us a lot about his skill and mental toughness at a high level. It's a great resume/confidence builder for Garcia and tbh if he can't beat Linares now he doesn't need to even think about a world title anytime soon.

This is a great way to look at it. He talks a big game so step up the competition. He will either win or lose either way it shows where the kid stands.
