OK, I miss Mike Tyson. Maybe it's the lack of inspiration I get from Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, particularly while they make more headlines discussing title fights than actually fighting them. Maybe it's the residue of multiple months in quarantine, with the specter of many more on the way thanks to spiking numbers in Florida.

''Even when he was decking the Marvis Fraziers and Jesse Fergusons on the way up and brutalizing the Trevor Berbicks and Tony Tuckers to capture belts once he'd arrived, I was always among those insisting Tyson was winning as much due to timing as talent.

Did he dismantle any foes that no one else could deal with? No.''

    Bravo !

A refreshingly realistic view of Tyson.

Yet another trick to stir the umpteenth debate between pro-Tyson and anti-Tyson factions, each side retaining their opinions after thousands of useless words and insults on this thread.

On a secondary note, I would love watching Mr. Fitzsimmons telling Tyson these same words face to face.

          That's a hater right there.
Imo Tyson can never be considered with the greatest of all times, to me that goes to Joe Louis.
But i also think 80s Iron Mike could have knocked any of those names tf out. 80s mike had speed & technique never seen before or since. It's a shame Cus passed away when he did. Who know's what Mike could have achieved.

            No one knows indeed.

But many people, including the author of this spiteful article, are convinced they know. According to them, Tyson would have achieved nothing in any case.

So let them to their beliefs.

I often wonder why athletes of one era are compared with other eras in terms of direct competition.. your training , your vision, your mindset and physicalality only extends to beating your immediate peers. Training methods and physicality of course have evolved over time but I believe in appreciating athletes doing great things in their own era....having said that if I had to name my pick for the greatest sportsperson of all time I'd go for Roger federer .. longevity , titles , ability , discipline , grace , temperament , maintaining hunger to improve and succeed . Staying on top in a era that includes potential greats live Djokovic and nadal . But that's only a personal choice. Heavyweight Boxing is harder to define as the physicalality of the fighters has changed enormously.

Berbick went 15 with Holmes and beat Thomas and Page. Tyson knocked him out in 2.

Tucker gave Lewis a good 12 round fight 5 years after he fought Tyson.

Holmes beat Mercer and gave Holyfield good work 4 years after Tyson knocked him out.

Tubbs gave Bowe all he could handle 3 years after Tyson knocked him out.

Williams arguably beat Holmes. Tyson KO 1 (early stoppage admittedly).

Tyson's sparring partner knocked Lewis out in 2.

I'll never understand people who want to tear down Tyson yet lionise the likes of Wilder.

                  Utterly bizarre.

The Mike Tyson Renaissance is not just about boxing 'It is about life'. This is what people make the mistake in not identifying, Mike Tyson is just training for himself because 'That ultimately is what elevated him in life' and if these motions are helping him out at this time 'There is absolutely nothing silly about it'.

No renaissance for anyone in life is silly. The only thing that is silly and completely pathetic are the naysayers and the critics, the negative oppressors in this world. But nature probably made you that way for a reason, congratulations.

I did not even read all of the article, pathetic.
