So. If the majority of people think a fighter is overated, then who exactly is doing the overating? Surely if anything this vote shows that most people aren't overating Golovkin... in a weird way doesn't the poll result actually disprove itself?

All these overated / underrated threads are kinda strange anyway, like, you're not asking how people rate the fighter in question but how people compare their own estimation to what they believe to be the perception of other people.

I am the only one that finds that a little odd, conceptually.
networks, scribes, and even other fighters/trainers......its possible that the boxing world/media could be over touting a fighter and the fans dont think a guy is all that

hes been a very good fighter, he couldnt put any distance between himself jacobs and canelo but thats no shame as all 3 are very good and ggg was a fair bit older than them too, not sure how much he had declined mid 30's but thats another argument i guess

I was being facetious, man. Bit of fun with logic. My humour ain't to everyone's taste though.

TS could possibly have been a little more specific however. My first thought with these kinda questions is always 'by whom?' Current media opinion seems to be that Golovkin's a very good fighter who's past his best and probably living on borrowed time. Wouldn't you say that's a reasonable take?

Anyone who ever said he was an ATG was overating him, anyone who says he was always just average or nothing unusual is underating him. Most of what lies between is valid opinion.

Incomplete. GGG was “tagging” Canelo with jabs and Canelo SMASHING his face and body with variance.

OK so Canelo wants Golovkin to land constant jabs on him and disrupt his momentum. Good to know. Go ask Canelo's trainers if they would like Golovkin to abandon his jab in favor of getting into a hand speed contest. The obvious answer is yes. Maybe you better not. They will probably think you're ******ed or insane for even asking and most likely throw you out of the gym before you do something crazy.

In the real world of boxing, when fighters watch tape of their fight, they knew Canelo needed to time his counters and that meant submitting at range to be probed with a jab. Most world fighters wouldn’t even want to get jabbed by GGG yet when they see how good Canelo’s compubox showed a neutralization never done before because GGG’s opponents never had such success.

GGG just jabbed cause he was skurrred. But it’s a good thing he did crazy mitt work for years doe...

Just about every fighter in every era is underrated until a good decade later so that’s my answer . You will see fighters after GGG being played down in that fantasy fight no matter who because that’s boxing history.

Yeah he really neutralized Golovkin. LOL In the rematch he got out landed in 8 of the 12 rounds. In the first fight he got out landed in 10 of the 12 rounds. The only thing unheard of is the amount of BS you just posted.

I must've watched a different fight compared to some of these dudes because I vividly remember Golovkin landing a hell of a lot more than just jabs. That's when you know it must be a really good jab, when you can't pay attention to anything else but that.

Yeah he landed plenty of hard punches. If you look at his lack of body punching he definitely landed more total punches to Canelo's head than the other way around.
