During GGGs time how many MWs would you rate above GGG?

Even historically how many MW would you rate above GGG?

No one has the BALLS to answer those two questions and even if they did, ask yourself, how objective are they being?

You know consider a majority of this board has an agenda and cant just be a ****ing fan of the sport.

How’s about we just say he gave Canelo the fight of his life ( first fight )
So anyone who says he’s a bum , a word I can’t stand saying for any fighter , then what does that say about Canelo
Although I believe Canelo won that second fight outright , still was no fughin walk in the park
    Let that sink in

It depends on who is doing the rating. On this forum he is vastly underrated and sometimes hated by some dedicated GGG haters who post multiple daily threads telling us how terrible he is. In the big world outsided of this forum he is rated fairly as the 7th best pound for pound boxer in the world at the very old age of 38 and was rated number 1 pound for pound in the world for many years. He made a record tying 20 successful title defenses and KOed 22 KOs in a row. No other boxer fighting now can equal these accomplishments. Ring magazine lists how long boxers have been on their pound for pound top 10 best list. GGG has been on the list for over 5 years and much longer than any other boxer with only Crawford coming close. Those who say he only fought bums are either lying or showing there ignorance of his opponents. Most of them were rated in the top 10 in the world at the time he fought them. They only become bums when he knocks them out. when others fight the same guys they are suddenly no longer bums. Look who Saunders defended his middleweight title against. Guys GGG had already KOed.

He's both. To his hardcore fans I would say he is overrated, to his dedicated haters I would say he is underrated. We can say this about a lot of fighters though.

agree totally....and that 2nd fight was the type of fight he begged canelo to fight...canelo happily obliged him

going into the first fight i believe canelo was giving golovkin credit and the benefit of the doubt that he was as strong and good as advertised...and in the 2nd fight he was not afraid of anything golovkin could do to him...i think he bought into the myth and then realized it just wasnt that true

i do believe golovkin is good....but he got by beating up guys like curtis stevens...who lost to legit d level club fighters....

the golovkin super fans swear that jab, which as you mentioned was really all he did well, is some measure of immense success.....in boxing youre gonna have to give/give up something to get something....what punch do you think canelo would want golovkin to be throwing? and alot of? my guess is he would want golovkin throwing jabs

When he finally stepped up and took on that welterweight I knew he was the next mayweather

            Heavily underrated

“Ducked by everyone in his division”

When GGG was being “ducked” MW was full of old or small fighters. There was never any in there prime elite fighters when he was there.

Sturm was on his way out and was never, ever elite.

Martinez was nearly 40 and was ducked himself coming up, and was looking to cash out and retire.

Cotto was small and looking to retire.

              Peter Quillin ******.

GGG turned down Lara, Charlo, and Ward/Froch at 168.

GGG wanted to fight old names to make big money. But didn’t want to earn his shot by fighting tough fights and making a name for himself. Instead he made a name for himself as a bum beater.

3G is a good fighter, there just wasn't that many options in his weight class for him to face. The good challenges came late in his career i.e. Canelo, Jacobs, Drev etc...

As far as middleweights go, Golovkin was the dominant mw of his era. Fans will rate him according to their bias, so I can't see that meaning too much. I think the boxers he fought rate him pretty high.

                    Yo Curt.

Still waiting on your list that proves GGG is a bum. You know, how you claimed "it's all relative" and ****.

You think GGG is good now though huh? but also feel its necessary to call him a ****ing bum too so which is it?

You tell me cuz I've been waiting for all those MW who are better than GGG during his career. Been waiting since what, 2 or 3 days ago? Which is SO ****ING FUNNY

So what kind of guys did GGG avoid huh? Please present that list too. Because I'm dying to see how many names are on it.

Yeah cuz all GGG does well is jab

                    Nothing about his

                    Timing
                    Chin
                    Workrate
                    Stamina
                    Power
Ability to cut off the ring

Its so funny seeing you try and talk boxing. If what you said is true then Canelo would have adapted his plan in the first fight where anyone with a brain and who wasnt bought saw him lose wide. You think it would have been smart to bring that plan again?

****. No one believed that Canelo would bring the fight to GGG even his biggest fangirls. They all believed that he did enough to WIN/DRAW the first time.

Canelos best shot was ALWAYS to bring the fight to GGG because GGG is susceptible to combinations. Look at all the fighters GGG has "struggled" with.

And guess what Canelos best punch is? His lead hook. Lead hooks dont counter jabs. You wanna talk about "body shots" how many of those do you think were lead hooks?

Canelos plan was to break down GGG with body shots so hopefully he could land something more meaningful. And why wouldnt you do that when you are the fighter with superior hand speed and reflexes.

Come on Curt. You got to do better than that.

Make beleive doesnt translate into actual boxing.

Overrated by his fans, underrated by his haters. This thread's responses just prove it.
