    Overrated with feminine tendencies.

He's und erated by many. His opponents rate him very highly. That must count for a lot. He beat nel o twice arguably. He was ducked in his prime.

        Maybe a bit of both.

Let’s not forget the majority of people thought he beat Canelo both times and that was a past prime GGG. So after those fights he’s probably a bit underrated because when the aftermath of robberies die down, people just look at the official record.

But a few years before those fights ,he was probably somewhat overrated in the sense people were putting them right at the top of pound for pound lists when he hadn’t really beaten any top fighters, but at the same time he was avoided so much, so it wasn’t entirely his fault.

But at the end of the day a mid 30s GGG beat Canelo clearly once and possibly twice. A prime version would’ve been way too much for Canelo but we never really got to see him tested and his real physical prime. Even Canelo vacated a belt to avoid him and dropped back down a division and waited until he was getting a bit older.

I think he’s pretty faded now though, And long amateur and pro career and age has caught up with him.

I think he was a great fighter who made it to the top 3-4 years too late. I think his run at middleweight until he fought Jacobs was respectable but highly overrated. However him beating Jacobs and Canelo twice (my opinion) puts him at a good spot historically as a middleweight champion, maybe somewhere in the top 20, but not any higher.

My favorite moment of him was the last 2-3 rounds against Canelo in the rematch. He really dug deep in there and showed tremendous heart at an old age against a prime elite P4P fighter like Canelo and won the championship rounds that won him the fight imo. Could've had a much better career had he turned pro and came over to the US earlier, he wasted like 5 years fighting bums in Germany during his peak years.

            Overrated.

A few years ago people were saying he was knocking heavyweights out cold in sparring, nobody could stand up to him, I mean bear in mind Matthew macklin was doing 11 rounds with him at this time.

His résumé is like similar to Wilders, there's nobody on it but C listers at best, then he has a draw and an L to the only good fighter he's faced.

He half heartedly postured for a fight with a retired Froch who was clearly washed up but otherwise had no interest in anyone in a higher weight class, instead berating average euro bums.

I could see an argument that he shaded the first Alvarez fight, but we were hearing for years how it was a mismatch and golovkin would just destroy canelo so it's a bit pathetic to be moaning about a close decision afterwards.

This pretty much describes GGG’s career
Wasted a lot of time chasing Canelo when he should have done his own thing

He's overrated. ESPN put him on a top 25 fighters list of the past 20 years based on nothing.

To anyone who needs to know if GGG is overrated or underrated ask yourself this.

During GGGs time how many MWs would you rate above GGG?

Even historically how many MW would you rate above GGG?

No one has the BALLS to answer those two questions and even if they did, ask yourself, how objective are they being?

You know consider a majority of this board has an agenda and cant just be a ****ing fan of the sport.

I think he is slightly underrated as another poster pointed out. I my mind he won both his fights against Canelo. Hes a good boxer with a great chin, outstanding jab with excellent power, good fundamentals and ring IQ. . He's a future HOF fighter no doubt.
