Great match up, big fan of Calzaghe but Prime vs Prime I have to go with Ward all day.

The writer can say lopsided victory against Jones, but Roy was way passed it and still looked great early. He knocked Joe down before stamina vs work rate got the best of Roy.

Prime Roy would have destroyed Joe. Once again... prime Roy Jones Jr. would have destroyed Joe. The matchmakers knew what was up or he would have crossed the pond sooner.

Hopkins vs Calzaghe could have went either way. If Bernard doesn’t make the “classless,” White Boy statement he probably would have earned the judges recognition. However Calzaghe did just enough to earn the win in a sliver close fight.

Prime Ward would have had the energy to match Joe through out the fight and would have contained that offense on the inside. The body attack would have been brutal. Calzaghe would not have looked the same by round 7.

I like Calzaghe, but I don’t believe prime Calzaghe beats a prime Kovalev.

Prime Froch is a toss up but I may slightly favor Joe.

Calzaghe came in at the right time and held his own against two aging legends. Jeff Lacy was just overrated from the start and I never understood why he was celebrated the way he was. Of course Joe should say he would win but let’s not get crazy. Then he should have fought the new wave of energetic youngsters. Calzaghe could have proved his value by staying in and participating in the very Super Six that made Ward a budding Hall of Famer.

Joe had so many chances to school the youngster but he stayed retired... Why talk now?

But to his defense that style was always going to be limited by age. Joe was remarkable, but what he used to outwork old guys was not going to beat a prime monster like Ward.

Anyone who doesn't see that this is a close fight either way is on crack, the styles would mesh horribly as neither has great tools for the others style and it be an ugly, spoilt, messy affair that everyone would moan about the decision.

Jc like all unbeaten fighters get out of sport abruptly to protect unbeaten record. Retirements are always sudden when they don't feel invincible anymore It's always possible to do a bit more to improve resume.
But quit while they're ahead is overriding feeling they have

I think the fight could go either way but I see Ward being able to make the better adjustments so I would favor him
