Comments Thread For: WBC Will Speak With Tyson Fury About His World Title Status

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman indicates that his organization will be speaking to WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury - to discuss the unbeaten boxer's title status. Dillian Whyte, who holds the WBC's interim title and is currently the mandatory challenger, has taken legal action against the sanctioning body to enforce his title shot.

Shame if Fury is handed the franchise belt, means clearly he doesn’t want the undisputed fight, shame on Arum, Suleiman and Wilder the one trick pony.

They should make Dillian WBC champion and Fury Franchise Champion it makes logical since this sleezeball WBC President made this move. It shuts up Dillan and if Wilder wins he won’t fight Whyte so do the right thing and Whyte still be running around saying his pissed because he misses a big payday he is a fool from 2 years ago should have went a different route. This is what happens you manage yourself and not got any education and the guys around never studied business LOL

When Hearn entered the US market in 2018, Sulaimoney decided to get involved in the competition between promoters and took a stance "anybody but Hearn". That explains all the "problems" between Whyte, Haney, and Callum Smith on one side and WBC on the other.

The whole concept of "Franchise Champion" seems like pure BS to me.

Say what you like about Whyte, but deep down I think we all know he is clearly being unfairly treated. The pandemic should be accounted for, of course, but the WBC haven't given Whyte any assurance that they're going to treat him fairly in future.

It sure feels a lot like WBC's intentions are to screw Whyte over rather than let him have his title shot. They'll gift him a belt which essentially means nothing in the most unsatisfying way possible. They should let him do what every fighter dreams of doing - earning the right to become champion by defeating the current champion in the ring.

Personally I don't see Whyte beating Wilder, Fury or Joshua but AT LEAST GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE. The WBC should be making it clear that their champion (Wilder or Fury following the rematch) will either fight unifications or Whyte with NO exceptions
