There is no limit to the hope some people have to see Mayweather humbled. If there is a decent chance of that happening the fight will be huge (thus Paq and Canelo).
Millions thought an active, dangerous striker (McGregor) had an excellent chance of catching the older, twice-retired, much smaller fighter (Mayweather). People were hopeful and somewhat convinced it would happen (there was a chance it would ... no one can ever know what a good shot to the head may do ... the brain and skull can be very unpredictable to shots to the head).
Despite the predictable(?) outcome from Floyd, there was real intrigue about the outcome, going in. And McGregor opening up well for the first 3 - 5 rounds made more people tune in as it progressed.Comment

Yep the baddest man on the planet against a midget with a Malteser head he was going knock off .
Fools bye into hype every day, a lot of marketing went into that fight along with a major tour that drew massive crowds around the world.
The moment it was talked about it wreaked of money.Comment

1)Mayweather is one of the biggest boxing stars of all time, and Mcgregor is/was the biggest mma star of all time at that moment.
2)You’re wrong. Not everybody knew Mac couldn’t win. He had at least 2.5 million of those purchasers believing he could beat Floyd.Last edited by HewJohnson; 06-18-2020, 02:17 AM.Comment
