Because MMA fans have peanut size brains thinking Connor would knock Mayweather Out
Why did Floyd vs Mcgregor do so many PPV buys when everyone knew Conor couldn't win?

Both fighters are household names whether you love em or hate em. They are known by casuals and diehards in their respective sports/styles. They are known by people whether you follow combat sports or not. Just like Tiger Woods, I don't follow golf for **** but you know about him whether you follow golf or not. Simple as that, I don't think it should be complicating.Comment

I was in the army. Let's call that whole 2015-2017 era, a very "culturally" divided era in the army. ***/Kap kneeling pissed off white soldiers who didn't believe racism existed or generally felt that one time they got pulled over was racism and an equivalent experience to what Black Americans have been dealing with for centuries. They were the biggest trump supporters and wanted him to win presidency. I heard everything from *** is a ********* group to Black Panthers were worse than the Ku Klux Klan.
Then comes the Floyd v Mctapps announcement. Let's not play games here UFC is primarily watched by white Americans who largely abandoned boxing. A majority of the white dudes I witnessed thought Mctapps was going to beat Floyd. Their reasoning? Floyd is little, Floyd is small, Floyd hits like a baby, Floyd runs while Mctapps walks people down, Floyd can't take a punch, Floyd won't hold up to the pressure Mctapps puts on him, Mctapps is a beast while Floyd fights like a sissy...so on and so forth.
A majority of the people bought that fight because they thought Mctapps could Win. The ones who bought it just to enjoy a clash between sports, for entertainment value are the minority. I tried telling them. All I got was UFC guys hit harder than Boxers because of the gloves, and Mctapps is a real warrior talk. For such patriotic people who were upset with Kap for kneeling, they sure rooted for the foreigner instead of Floyd. Wonder what it could've been.Comment

Great post and observation. I actually won money on that fight with a group of MMA fans I work with because they were sure McGregor would destroy Floyd. Boxing and MMA are 2 different sports and they never even saw it coming.Because there’s boxing matches and there’s cultural events.
That event attracted millions of people who don’t even follow boxing.
I can’t even tell you how many people asked me what I thought about that fight. Most of them almost never watch boxing.
When that happened, it also became clear to me that 99% of them didn’t understand that boxing isn’t a bar fight. So I’m sure most people who bought it actually thought it could be competitive.Comment

People simply bought into the hype of the event. I genuinely believe the majority of people knew the outcome but it made an excuse for their to be parties thrown and who doesn't love a good ***** show every now and then? Floyd and Connor knew exactly what they were doing. Even Connor losing he still did 2 Mill plus with Khabib IN HIS NEXT FIGHT so it's not as if his stock really dropped.Comment
