Goldenboy doesn’t have many stars in their stable, so aside from Canelo, Ryan is the main focus. Oscar’s approval means a lot to Mexicans and Mexican Americans. Al Haymon didn’t make most of the fighters under PBC. That was mostly Oscar. Al hasn’t been able to make a star of his own.

Fighters might get paid more with Haymon, but Oscar makes fighters rich with ventures outside of boxing. Even Victor Ortiz got movie roles and some other gigs under Oscar and he lost a lot of fights. Look at Canelo with Under Armor and Corona. Hispanics are the demographic that buy the most PPVs and Oscar knows how to reach out to that audience.

    If Ryan Garcia leaves Oscar:

    1) It would be a terrible marketing move. Ryan Garcia looks better under the Goldenboy Roster

    2) His career wouldn’t be carefully managed. Let’s face it, he has talent, but they’re being soft on him

    3) He will be limiting himself to just boxing and selling cheap Instagram products. Oscar can turn him into a businessman

We’re in a recession and a pandemic. Ryan Garcia folded a smaller man in a round in his last fight and got $250k for it. He’s not a world champ, so $200k for a tune up in an empty arena isn’t bad. That’s the minimum amount in his contract, he agreed to it and we’re in a tough time. Many DAZN subscribers cancelled and no one can attend these fights. Ryan should be happy and shut up.

GBP cant make ryan garcia a superstar because they aren't doing ppvs. DAZN has nothing going on and ryan knows this. And so does canelo. But he gets 35 million regardless so he doesnt mind.

No ppvs and gbp has no opponents at 135 or 140 for garcia.

Top Rank would be the beat place for garcia. Opponents and PPVs

    Loma
    Teofimo
    Berchelt
    Valdez
    Stevenson

PPVs don’t make you a superstar, but now they’re more focused on monthly subscribers. As soon as Ryan wins a belt, he can call shots. Right now he’s behind the other two young champs, Teofimo and Devin Haney.

Who became a superstar without ppv? Nobody

Well Roy jones jr maybe. He was a household name without big ppv numbers but he was fighting on ppv unlike ryan.

PPV buys or huge tv numbers is how you call shots. Aint nobody buying dazn subscriptions to watch garcia vs nobody on gbp.... He will be a popular internet champion that nobody sees fight.

Canelo fights barely even get seen now. My friends have missed the last 3 canelo fights because they know nothing about dazn. Canelo vs GGG was the last fight they saw live of Canelo and thats because they watch boxing on ppv or espn or fox

Dazn will be over in 1 year's time.

App boxing was always gonna fail in America.

Al Haymon doesn't have a good track record of building a fighter into a star from scratch.

Golden Boy has done it a lot of times.

Top Rank just paid Shakur Stevenson $400,000 for his fight. Does Ryan think he will get that much from them when he hasn't even won a world title like Stevenson has?

But Ryan wouldn't be from scratch.... I think Ryan has enough juice to go Haymon and prosper

That's a fair point. Haymon does have a history of doing ok with guys that Oscar has already invested time and money in.

I don't think Al understands the Hispanic market the way Oscar does, though. Leo Santa Cruz should have been a bigger star and his career has basically stagnated at this point.

Yeah, I agree. This kind of sht pisses me off. I see this in my industry all the time. Dumb@** people are always trying to demand more without having earned it yet. I'm pretty sure Oscar is telling him that he needs a belt before he can make demands but Ryan is too ****** to comprehend (just listen to him speak lol). Also Ryan can be a diva all he wants and get no where. Leaving GBP is leaving Eddie Reynoso and he knows that would be the end of his career. I predict he'll probably get an easy belt in the next couple of years and retire. I feel like he only get attention because of his looks. Honestly, Virgil Ortiz is a better boxer and I'm pretty sure he'll leave a way better legacy in the long run.

But Ryan is different.... He has a personality and diffrent fanbase. Why i say he would do go good with anybody. Plus imagine Ryan Garcia headlining a PBC event bringing all his fans to free TV.

                    Ryan Garcia has juice

I wonder if his contract even has a buyout clause.
