Ryan would be dumb to leave Goldenboy

Ryan would be dumb to leave Goldenboy. To me, it seems like the partnership makes sense. In some way, he resembles a young Oscar. Goldenboy doesn’t have many stars in their stable, so aside from Canelo, Ryan is the main focus. Oscar’s approval means a lot to Mexicans and Mexican Americans. Al Haymon didn’t make most of the fighters under PBC. That was mostly Oscar. Al hasn’t been able to make a star of his own.

Fighters might get paid more with Haymon, but Oscar makes fighters rich with ventures outside of boxing. Even Victor Ortiz got movie roles and some other gigs under Oscar and he lost a lot of fights. Look at Canelo with Under Armor and Corona. Hispanics are the demographic that buy the most PPVs and Oscar knows how to reach out to that audience.

    If Ryan Garcia leaves Oscar:

    1) It would be a terrible marketing move. Ryan Garcia looks better under the Goldenboy Roster

    2) His career wouldn’t be carefully managed. Let’s face it, he has talent, but they’re being soft on him

    3) He will be limiting himself to just boxing and selling cheap Instagram products. Oscar can turn him into a businessman

We’re in a recession and a pandemic. Ryan Garcia folded a smaller man in a round in his last fight and got $250k for it. He’s not a world champ, so $200k for a tune up in an empty arena isn’t bad. That’s the minimum amount in his contract, he agreed to it and we’re in a tough time. Many DAZN subscribers cancelled and no one can attend these fights. Ryan should be happy and shut up.

True man! He can go with Al Haymon and basically kiss his legacy goodbye. True he can get paid millions more right now will Al Haymon but when it’s all said and done Golden Boy can build him up into a mega attraction and Al Haymon can’t and won’t do that.

You are exactly right. Haymon will just put him in line. Golden Boy would build him up big.

Ask the Mexican media who Richard Schaefer is and they won’t know. My point is that Oscar’s name holds a lot of weight. Goldenboy is Oscar and Schaefer might have ran a lot of the day to day stuff, but Oscar was the brand. If you’re co-signed by Oscar, it means a lot. How many fighters has Mayweather co-signed and how many have been successful? Just Gervonta Tank Davis and his name is relevant enough to be a love and hip hop star lol.

Haymon is only in the business of making fights and getting fighters paid well for fights, but Oscar is in the business of business overall. He doesn’t only want to settle for boxing, he wants his fighters to be an icon, so they can retire and still have some type of cash flow. Al Haymon can’t help you with that. He doesn’t do a great job at promoting fighters to be a household name. They’re getting paid fair, but they’re just another name on the card they’re promoting and that’s that.

He’s the brand and PBC hasn’t been able to get even close to what Oscar had with Goldenboy.

Oscar has traditionally made some bad moves as a promoter. Not long ago he lost most of his fighters to Schaefer and Haymon because of his inattention to business. His lack of focus perhaps resulting from various addictions keep him from making smart decisions. Humiliating Ryan Garcia via a public tweet is totally bush league, not to mention ******. Oscar is supposed to be the adult in the room, not the petulant adolescent.

Yes because I doubt Canelo team will train him and that will be his down fall . Like it or not Chepo Reynosa is the best trainer in boxing today that’s why Andy Ruiz is with him
