  • Comments Thread For: Spence: I Don't Like American Guys Backing Fury Instead of Wilder

IBF, WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence is not happy about American fans and fighters who are backing Tyson Fury instead of the homegrown boxer, Deontay Wilder. Fury, who is from the UK but had his last four fights in the United States, stopped Wilder in seven rounds back in February to capture the WBC heavyweight title.

Hey Errol! Did you know that the LDBC always have agendas against Brits and Mexicans.... they are your big supporters

The LDBC also say things like x-race should only be with x-race. I even heard stuff like “man Ward is only half X anyways.”

Just so you know, Errol... your girl is mExican doe! Mexican Bidness!

People like Furys personality more than they like Deontays. At least that's what it comes down to for me. Furys a funny, goofball nutcase, with a funny looking body, he talks so much sh-it but backs it all up. He's the exact opposite of what a HW chamo of the world should be and yet he's the best in the world.

Deontay for me, just never drops that Bronze Bomber act which gets annoying. Like he's stuck in character 99% of the time. When he tries to get all deep and dramatic, it's just corny as hell to me. Outside of all that he's actually a cool guy when he's just his normal self. He would be better at WWE than Fury by far.

You say that like black and Hispanic people don't watch boxing. What about us, do we relate to Fury more ? I don't relate to either guy in any way but I just like Fury more than I do Wilder.

What a flagboy mentality. Did Wilder relate well with all Americans with his entrance theme?

I never knew what the hell The LDBC was til recently. Those dudes are not at all an accurate representation of Black fans. Theyre oddball extremists who do the same things that racist ass white people do.

I'm all for being proud of your heritage no matter who you are but once you start talking that White Supremecy, Black Supremecy or whatever you can go f-uck yourself.

I'm a Hispanic male but I don't root for every Hispanic fighter, nor do I think they're better than all the other fighters. I don't hate guys like Lomachenko because he's European. I don't hate Wilder because he's black. I love them because they're good entertaining fighters.

All the race sh-tt and siding with someone just cuz they're from the same country as you is bad for boxing.

Just another black racist. That's all.

Btw, when was the last time Spedce (or any of his black PBC buddies) "backed" a white guy?

It's definitely more of a personality thing and after his last fight maybe even a preference of style. Some boxers just transcend patriotism.

Mike Tyson was the same/bigger in this respect. I'm white and from the UK but Tyson was without doubt my favourite boxer growing up. I'm pretty sure for those growing up in the 80's in the UK I'm not alone either but we also had a soft spot for Bruno too haha

Spence seems to be confusing two separate things to me.

Most commentators say that they expect Fury to win the third fight. That's not the same thing as wanting him to win the third fight.

You can still support Wilder without expecting him to win. You can also expect Wilder to win (that is your right). However, having watched the previous two Wilder/Fury fights most observers seem to favour Fury in the third fight - and with good reason.

Basing opinions on what you have seen does not make you disloyal. A lot of these fighters and commentators have professional reputations to think about and saying that the American guy is going to win every time regardless of evidence to the contrary would make them look like idiots, frankly.
