It doesn’t help that all the card was, was a showcase fight for Stevenson and most people don’t know who he is.

It was also poorly advertised I think.

To be the first sport out of the gate and to do numbers like that is pretty disappointing. I get it that boxing usually has competition and would lose to that competition, but that’s not the case here! People should be clamoring to see live sports!

ESPN has been doing boxing for a long time if they can’t get it right now, idk.

Your right i was thinking texiera v smith that was on Wednesday so i guess Overeem v harris was the lowest rated one i think it peaked at 680k viewers similar number to stevenson v carabello. Would say ufc is doing slighty better nothing crazy 1 mil average 680k for weak cards.

No, you are way off. The prelims of that card AVERAGED 690k viewers while the main card averaged 1.198M viewers. So if Overeem/Harris portion averaged 1.198M viewers, it would have peaked over 1.2M.

Stevenson/Caraballo entire card averaged 397K while the main event peaking at 609k. You can't even compare the ratings of the two cards, especially the main event.

Not bad I guess, not sure why fans are trying to put these high expectations on boxing!

Accept the fact that Boxing is not as popular as it use to be and NO the Average Person is not going to tune in to watch people they don't know!

I'm a Hardcore Boxing fan and often times I find even myself bored watching some of these Boxing Cards over the years

It gives ESPN some live sports at least but the ratings of these cards aren't going to be much better than the first card. More times than none, it will be worse like this one.

Boxing is a purely niche sport that was passed up by the UFC a while ago. Look at the deals PBC got on FOX and TR got with ESPN and then compare it to what the UFC was able to get with those networks.

This is why all those debates about DAZN succeeding in America or not are hilarious when people act like boxing is going to make or break them. It's simply not and never was.

I honestly dont know how these boxers are making a mil or more an event with these type of numbers. So far lomachenko, crawford and lopez are the only draw for top rank but i honestly think espn only has a contract with them because they want Loma and Fury.

Boxing is fairly non-expensive compared to other sports. It is still live sports and some fighters can draw. But don't think Dana isn't aware of the type of ratings it has done compared to his own sport:
