Comments Thread For: DiBella: Regis Prograis Is Not Fighting Maurice Hooker At 147 Pounds

Maurice Hooker is willing to reschedule his fight against Regis Prograis. The former WBO junior welterweight champion just doesn't want to face Prograis at a catch weight of 143 pounds anymore. According to what Brian McIntyre, Hooker's trainer, told Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix on Wednesday, Hooker only wants to reschedule their fight if the contracted maximum is the welterweight limit of 147 pounds.

Regis has been at 140 his whole career. He has been at 140 longer than Crawford's tenure there and is only a year younger than Crawford who started in a lighter division. Time to move the **** up.

Regis pro holds nose at dirty hooker.

Former IBF jr. welterweight champ Ivan Baranchyk is taking on Jose Zepeda, presumably later this year. Both are highly ranked by the IBF-WBC-WBO.

Regis Pro and Dibella need to hustle otherwise 'Rougarou' maybe sitting on the sidelines watching the winner of Baranchyk-Zepeda get a mandatory position.

If the contracts were signed for 143 then that's the weight!
If, due to covid, the contracts is now void and they can't agree on a weight then no fight. Prograis shouldn't go to a weight he doesn't want to, especially if he remains committed to 140 for the foreseeable future. I don't see how that would benefit him?

Why should he move up if he can make the weight comfortably? Is there a time limit for how long a fighter is allowed to stay in a particular weight class?

Hooker is with DAZN right? I guess their fighters aren't going to live up to contracts anymore?

This fight wasn't going to take placce at 140 in the first place. It was a already at welterweight. Time to move up and start trying to fight these fighters he love to name drop like Crawford and Spence. I was never high on him and you should see why. Dude is content spending his whole career in the minor league version of welterweight.

Why move up when you still have good fights at 140 Prograis is not even that big of a guy he will be similar to Matthysse when he moved up to 147. Some people don't understand moving up in weight and moving back down is not always a good idea and sometimes messes with fighters in a bad way.

Lol minor league welterweight get the hell out of here dude 140 has more competitive fights at the moment than 147 where there is only 2 big names on a collision course in Spence and Crawford and everybody else is just recycling fights against each other. Crawford name drops a lot knowing damn well he fights top rank fighters only.

Prograis always looks ****** up at the 140lb weight limit weigh-ins, definitely time to move up to 147 he's already 31. They should both officially move up to Weltereeight and face each other straight away. Step up to the plate Prograis don't listen to your promoter.

Prograis is too small for welter. If Hooker won’t or can’t honor the agreement he should just pass. Maybe even pursue a legal remedy.
