  • Comments Thread For: Stevenson: Valdez Knows I Would Beat Him Easily, My Style Is Not For Him

Shakur Stevenson's most approachable path to a 130-pound world title shot is to face the winner of the Miguel Berchelt-Oscar Valdez fight. Berchelt, Valdez and Stevenson all are promoted by Bob Arum's Top Rank Inc., thus Stevenson versus the winner should be relatively easy to make. Jamel Herring, the WBO junior lightweight champion, also is promoted by Arum's company, but Stevenson and Herring are friends, so Stevenson would agree to challenge Herring if it were his only opportunity to fight for a 130-pound championship.

If Valdez avoids him at 130 then he must know he cant win but only time will tell if that's the case.

This kid is really starting to talk alot. He needs to just shut up and fight when his fight happens. THis whole younger bunxh is always on youtube or some where talking constantly. I know no one has been fighting but damn man this young bunch talks so much. Ryan Garcia, Haney, Tank, Stevenson, LOpez, Man they need to earn it in the ring.

Valdez is a solid fighter but he's not the man at 130. That would belong to Berchelet my friend, he's going to steam roll Valdez when that fight happens and if Bob and Stevenson want that fight ( which I doubt), he will steam roll Stevenson as well.

I agree Green. Berchelt is a bad dude. He would asmother Stevenson and wear him down physically and mentally. Stevenson has had it real easy so far. Alot of guys who were bantams and jr feathers coming up in weight as they were aging. Its funny you dont hear many calling out Berchelt.

He may be slow but he cuts ring off and throws alot of punches. I am not sure how tough this kid is mentally. He has always been the bigger guy in fights. Against Berchelt he will be smaller.

Shakur is the future pound for pound king of boxing, he has all the tools to beat everyone from 130-135!

Not sure how he’ll do at 140 or even 147!

One things for sure, he’ll take both Valdez and Berchelt to school! Both aren’t defensively responsible and after the fight would complain that Stevenson ran away!

Nah i see it more like Floyd-Castillo or Floyd Maidana 1. Stevenson isnt floyd either. Floyd could sit in there and throw and make you miss. This kid will just run after a while.

Also Floyd was very strong physically and had been tested early against really good fighters. This kid has not fought that thype of comp early. I am not sure he is mentally that strong. Floyd had tunnel vision. You couldnt rattle him.
